Commentary
It has been a few years since Sailonline raced the course of the Yates Cup with Royal Akarana Yacht Club and, this year was not one of them! Why do we say this? Well, because the intended course is a real jaunt around the Hauraki Gulf of around 230nm and, unfortunately, the fickle winds of November decided to lighten up to just above a dead calm, which meant that the race organisers had to abbreviate the real course and, as this was a buddied event, Sailonline followed suit. There wasn’t a huge participation, but 122 boats flying the flags of 27 different nations were on-course, and naturally the front runners were as fiercely competitive as ever.

Our podium three, all Europeans, arrived within a couple of minutes of each other, which, considering the conditions is a pretty impressive result. Well done everyone!

SWR 17/18 Leg 11 Gothenburg to The Hague
Then we've made it to Gothenburg.
And with the experience that The North Sea can be just as rough as the Southern Pacific.
Ok, it's time for sailing our final leg to The Hague, with a little detour around the Danish city of Aarhus, a so-called "fly-by".
And beware – the North Sea can still be very tricky, so fair winds to you all.

Sail Fiji 2018
Welcome to Sail Fiji 2018.
This time there will be no RAYC IRL fleet to beat, so we have the 1144nm from New Zealand to Fiji ahead of us, in our "old" Volvo Ocean racer, the VO70v4, completely to ourselves.
The time set in 2016 was a little under 66½ hours, done by "outlaw".
We can do better this time, can't we?
