Results actually do fade over time with the current system, read the explanation here:

I want to thank Gashagamarina for the posts. I might think that you have a point... hmmm...

My feeling is that any irl yacht club would promote participation, so I don't have a problem with that (although it probably works against me).
Great Move Club Committee.

All we need ia a good club sponsor and more prizes and we will have plenty of participation.
I am already planning a submission for reciprical rights with the CYCA RPAYC and ASC. See you on the water.
22Square sailor in Newport ,Pitwater NSW Australia.
Great idéa, I'll join as soon as "CSN" freshen up the balance on my account, beein' a student doesn't get you rich, any chance of a student-discount?! ;)
After a race, the winner gets 1000 points, last place gives 1 point. When a race is 30 days old the ranking points from that race is starting to fade out. After 12 months (to eternity) the race gives only 5% of the original points. Total ranking points is calculated as the sum of all races participated. The ranking is only processed about one time per week. Note: The ranking system is preliminary and is subject to evaluation.

Guys isn't it an idea to make the nr of points dependent on the nr of entries per race? As the more entries the harder it will theoretically be to win....

Please, I want a limit on the "participation bonus points", like 1000 points (20 races).

I like the rankings now (obviously ;-), but as we are very even on the top, one missed race would mean giving up several placings...

Also, it is a bit funny, that in a race with less participants, the points difference between subsequent placings increases. For instance, if a pair mixes 1-2 finishes in two races, that who wins the race with _less_ participants gains an advantage in points.
Dear Laiska,
It is hard, lonely and cold on the top I guess. As much as we really appreciate your tricky situation and fully sympathize with you I am afraid that we cannot help you at the moment. However, since your case is so strong and moves us at heart we will discuss your suggestion in future revisions.

Regards
Jakob

Thanks Jakob, I knew you would understand my delicate situation. And appreciate my needs to rest once in a while... ;-).

Melbourne to Osaka Prelude 2024

Welcome once again to what these days is Sailonline’s almost annual virtual Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race. In real life, this double-handed 5500 nm race between these two sister cities, one deep in the southern hemisphere, the other high in the northern hemisphere, is run every four to five years, and is planned to be held again in 2025, so this race is a Prelude in partnership with the Melbourne Osaka Cup 2025 organising committee collaborating with the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV), and the Sandringham (SYC) and Osaka Hokko (OHYC) yacht clubs. On this occasion, we’ll be racing the well-known First 40, a popular size of boat for a long-distance double-handed race. With the doldrums unavoidably lying across the track, you can expect to be at virtual sea for at least a month!
