It is nearly time for our SYC Membership Drive aka Sailonline’s annual Pirate frenzy – for the 9th year Sailonline takes inspiration from International Talk Like a Pirate Day (19 September) to change boatnames, start speaking pirate lingo and race around the islands of the Caribbean during hurricane season, visiting several world class rum distilleries and in pursuit of our Carib Rum Run PRIZEs. Some take racing as seriously as every but others find it more challenging to talk like a pirate! Sailonline's race this year starts on 17 September at 1600utc and will open shortly for pre-race practice.

The Carib Rum Run is always a PRIZE race and here are this year’s prizes:

The race winner, wherever they are in the world, will receive a Nauticalia replica of Captain Cook’s chart Magnifier, donated by RainbowChaser:

Each member of our winning podium will receive 12 months membership of SYC (or a 12 months extension of it, if they are already members!).

Welcome to the grand finale of this year's SSANZ Triple Series! The stage is set for the Lewmar 50, a thrilling 40nm challenge tracing the southern shores of the stunning Waiheke Island, pushing out to Tarahiki before the sprint back to Islington Bay. Expect fast legs, tactical battles, and no shortage of drama as our SOLers take on the waters in their Young 88s, lining up once again against the talented IRL members of the Young 88 Association. With the series on the line and everything still to fight for, it all comes down to this final race!

The Vineyard Race 2026


For the 16th consecutive year, our SOLers are invited to tackle this iconic 250nm overnighter. The classic route charges out through the sound, leaves Buzzards Bay Light to starboard, rounds Block Island to starboard, and heads home.

This year's weapon of choice is the Beneteau First 47.7. A proven performer since its 2012 SOL debut, this Farr-designed cruiser/racer excels at leading real and virtual handicap fleets. Success will demand sharp tactical navigation, so watch the polars closely to conquer the sound's shifting winds!

Shearwater - Rio de la Plata to Irish Sea 2026

Welcome to the fourth leg of our MIG series. This time we're racing the Sooty Shearwater on their migration from the breeding grounds in South America to the northern Atlantic. New Ice Age 2026 - Scott Base to Neumayer Station


To complete our DN circumnavigation of Antarctica and our 4-race ice-boat marathon series, we continue clockwise, now departing from Scott Base back to Neumayer Station. It’s about 3500nm back as well, which, as said if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you much more than five days. And remember: charts down here are unreliable – what is land and what is ice?!
