Commentary
It is not often that a Sailonline Sprint championship race is linked with a real event so The North Sea Challenge 2021 from Vestlandseilkrets was already something pretty special before it had even started. Unfortunately, the real event had to be postponed to 2022 due live and the continuing #COVID19 pandemic, so Sailonline’s racers were the first to race a new Norwegian race into the North Sea. The course was a straightforward one - from and back to the waters near the Marstein Lighthouse, to and from one of the largest oil platforms in the world, the Troll A platform. The course was a swift 98nm and to win such a dash takes nerve as well as skill!

Congratulations to our podium, representing Spain, Netherlands and France who arrived at the front of a sprint fleet of 111 boats representing 26 nations – nicely done, guys!

Mad Max by Balloon 2026 - Across the Outback

Mad Max Rockatansky doesn’t get to go in a balloon in any of the Legends of the Wasteland, and the Wasteland is not necessarily the Outback of Australia, but Mel Gibson and film director George Miller indubitably are… of Australia, and ballooning as reconnaissance is a main feature of the Mad Max spin-off video game, so here goes: 1500nm in a balloon from somewhere on the edge of the Outback, Goondiwindi, to cross a finish line at Fitzroy Crossing, somewhere on the edge of the Outback!
