Sailonline.org is delighted to be able to partner with the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron to bring the virtual Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht Race to simulated sailing navigation enthusiasts around the world.

Race start time: Friday 5th August 2021 at 1100 AEST (0100 UTC)

The Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht Race on Sailonline will run at the same time as the real race allowing virtual sailors to sail against the actual boats in the Race.

Having done a few Brisbane to Keppel races with RQYS over the years, this time we are using our polar for a 100ft maxi which we hope can be a match for the several maxis entered in the real-life race.

In cooperation with the race’s tracker provider, YB Tracking, Sailonline is hoping to display all the real-life boats on its virtual racing screen so online navigators can see how they are faring against the real fleet. This dramatically enhances the interactive experience and is a great way for family and friends of crew members to be involved while following the yacht.

The virtual Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht Race on Sailonline.org will open for practice on Saturday, July 30th. Everyone is invited to come and join in so that they will gain the most fun when the real race starts.

Sailonline’s 15th Birthday Balloon Race
Sailonline offers a huge variety of boats to sail in. One of the more unusual ones has got to be SOL's Balloon, which was polarized by past SOLmaster 76Trombones. Notably, the SOL Balloon will actually ‘sail’ in other directions other than straight downwind, although it will not 'sail' over land or beyond a 'beam reach'. Like in 2013 and 2018, we will be taking the Balloon across the Atlantic from St. John's and 'land' it in the sea off the Cliffs of Moher.
