It was a terrific downwind blast for the 108 virtual TP-52s, of the 116 that set out from Brisbane in the early hours of Good Friday UTC morning, the 29th of March, to make it to Gladstone little more than 36 and a half hours later as indeed it must have been for the real life 33 finishers from 33 monohull and 3 multihull starters, whose leading contenders got there even slightly quicker. Low attrition rates are always a good indicator that folks are having fun!

Online, where and when to gybe and not necessarily at or near the several turning marks, was the secret to success, which Poland's WRmirekd mastered best, but it wasn't all plain sailing as second-placed ita10267, who, if he hadn't exited Brisbane so conservatively as he slept, might just have pipped him, as you can glean from his report under the button above. Great racing, guys!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Masirah to Chagos


Having crossed, re-crossed and re-re-crossed the Convergence Zones of the Pacific and the Atlantic, we now face our second crossing of the Convergence Zone of the World’s third great equator-spanning sea, the Indian Ocean, taking us from the channel between Masirah Island and the Oman mainland to the Chagos Archipelago. It’s 1900nm and we’ll be sailing our very fine Archer 78, and won’t mention that both locations (of departure and arrival) are heavily militarized and the why’s and what next’s concerning that – mindful as always of SOL Netiquette.

This year, we command the magnificent Falkun—the ultimate high-tech superyacht modeled after the iconic Maltese Falcon. This 1759nm slalom takes us through the Caribbean’s rum islands to plunder barrels from local distilleries and deliver them to the rum-parched sands of Cancun.
