Commentary

Racing our Super Maxi multi's from San Francisco to San Diego in our virtual condensed California Race Week proved popular last year, so we just had to repeat it, even though it wasn't on in-real-life (there're only so many Super Maxi's in the real world and because they're real they can't be everywhere at once).

With a bit more pressure in the breeze than in the previous year, once Farallon Island had been passed, our mighty machines quite barrelled downwind, seeking as so often the perfect balance between V-max and D-sailed, which, again as so often, off the coast of California meant holding out to sea (the right bit) and deciding when to gybe (the right point) for the shore and the finish off San Diego.

And it was FreyjaUSA from the USA who judged it best of all, making up some considerable ground after rounding Farallon. Ping, ping, 1 minute ahead of Patrick70119, who was pleased to be back on the virtual water as you can glean from his report under the brown bear above.
