Sailonline is delighted to have been invited to partner the King Shaka Yacht Club (KSYC) of South Africa to bring a virtual version of the Tuzi Tekwini Ocean Race to our online community.

The TuziTekwini Ocean Race is a near 90 nautical mile race down the east coast of South Africa, from the port of Richards Bay to the port of Durban. Achievable in a single day and seen by some as an easy mile-builder, the course is more tactical than some think and should not be underestimated. This iconic race promises to be an unforgettable experience for yachting enthusiasts.

Our online version of the race will be a TIMED event, and will be open to all comers from June 1 12:00 UTC onwards for two weeks, over which period you may attempt as may runs as you like, always, however, after having first finished your previous run(s).

Sailonline’s virtual yacht for all your runs will be our much-loved Farr 38, a boat that will relish the always challenging conditions along the east coast of South Africa.

So, join us for an exhilarating virtual journey. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a passionate spectator, the Tuzi Tekwini Ocean Race on Sailonline.org offers a thrilling blend of competition and camaraderie.

Africa by Sea - Abidjan to Swakopmund


Our exploration of Africa by Sea continues. Next, it’s off to Swakopmund, on the water’s edge of the Kalahari desert. It’s a wind-blasted coast, and a venue of choice for those seeking to set wind-powered speed records. More likely than not, we’ll have to beat into it in our Steinlager II, to finally find some shelter behind the walls of Platz am Meer where there is a marina of sorts. Only 2200nm!

Channel Islands TIMED Chase 2025

Join us in Saint Peter Port, Guernsey for a race around the Channel Islands in the J-109, a recent addition to the Sailonline fleet. The course takes us around the islands of Alderney and Jersey finishing back in Saint Peter Port. This is a TIMED race, so you may RE-REGISTER HERE to try again, after finishing a run. You will have 13 days and 11 hours to test your skill and decision making after the race opens.
