Commentary

Another memorable race has been added to the logbooks. Eighty-eight boats crossed the starting line on time, and as the event unfolded, participation swelled to 127. Of these, 115 successfully reached the finish before the deadline.

The fleet set off from the western approach, holding a steady port tack. After the first 24 hours, it was time to turn south. For the next 72 hours, the fleet remained tightly packed, before a decisive split emerged: the main group pushed westward, beating into the wind, while others opted for a more southerly route with a better angle. The high-pressure ridge ahead proved a challenge. The western pack slowed significantly, while the southern boats, meeting the ridge head-on, advanced more swiftly. Both groups eventually rejoined on parallel tracks, maintaining this formation for nearly a week, with the starboard side slowly regaining ground.

On day 12, yet another high-pressure system reshuffled the order. This time the southern group suffered less and pressed ahead, though the northern boats clawed their way back into contention. The battle for the podium remained undecided until the final miles, delivering a thrilling conclusion to an already unforgettable race.
