At the end of Practice Racing some SOLers decided to go hang near to Jubilant - probably in the hope of some of CG's excellent food!!

Start Report from RORC:

"The RORC Myth of Malham Race got off to a fine start." Reports John Burnie on The RYS Line. IRC 4 were first away and as the tide was turning on The Green many yachts chose the classic RYS line start of the island shore. However, several yachts chose the pin end and could just fly a shy kite. It was difficult to tell which end of the line paid but RORC CEO Eddie Warden Owen, further up the course believed that going for the main land shore was working better. Andy Budgen's Volvo 70, Monster Project got away well but the best start of the day was Piet Vroon's Tonnerre de Breskens. Nailing the leward end of the line with pace and hight. After a grey start, the 120 yacht fleet are now in bright sunshine and heading towards Hurst Narrows, where a favourable tide will turn in about half an hour."

Jubilant's SPOT Tracker webpage - this is the signal we are bringing on to our SOL race page.
With Jubilant appearing to be at anchor on AIS although not head to wind in SOL, the only source of info is RORC. The morning update says:

0800 BST 26.05.13 Myth of Malham Update: About 21 hours into the race and RORC Racing Manager, Nick Elliott reports that the majority of the fleet are between Start Point and the Eddystone Lighthouse. The leading boats are now round Eddystone and racing back. Monster Project was the first boat round at approx. 01:00 this morning and Monster Project is currently half way across Lyme Bay doing 11 knots.

Light airs have slowed the progress of the fleet but the wind is expected to increase during the day. The first finishers are expected by early afternoon.

Thus in the absence of news, we must presume all is well on board Jubilant!
All morning SOLers have been speculating about Jubilant's track - her SPOT tracker is offline so all we had to go on was AIS

BER Baggus (who sailed on Jubilant in the Cervantes Trophy) has thrown some light on the situation with:

"Jubilant will not be enjoying these conditions! ... She needs a breeze to get her moving - any sort of tide against her will be a major headache... They are quite close to the most beautiful town in the world though :-)"

The Vineyard Race 2025

For the first time since first hosting a virtual Vineyard in cooperation with Long Island's Stamford Yacht Club back in 2010, due to an operational calendaring error, Sailonline has missed the start of the real life race, the USA’s Labor Day weekend this year unusually falling across the turn of August. Silly SOL! So, a week late please join us anyway for a virtual rerun of Stamford’s iconic annual overnighter from their club line out the sound to Buzzard's Bay Light near Martha's Vineyard Island and back again, leaving Block Island to starboard. This year, Sailonline is making its magic MC 38 available to competitors, a race boat with a quirky polar that will require you to stay wide awake as you speed around the c 250 nm course, in rockstar style!

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
