JULY 2013

Check the Word document below for races run in July of previous years.

Check here to see races proposed/designed by SYC members which have yet to be run.

Think of other races that might be fun to include....

Then please make suggestions to fill some of the gaps!

We should soon do Aaron's own little race, "AGage's Tour Down Under 2012". http://sol.brainaid.de/notice/notice_495.html

:-)
Hi RC,
Any chance to run the Buenos Aires (Argentina) to Rio (Brasil) race that I designed a few months past?
To be race on a Class 40.
Thanks,
Antonio
dear zero - I hadn't forgotten at all about it but as we have been spending time racing to Rio with the Magnus Olsson race (which just closed this evening) it didn't seem right to "double count" with an inshore race at the same time...give it a couple of weeks I think!

There are some weekend gaps in the calendar so which weekend would you like - what start time?

Dear Joanne,
Thank you. I completely understand of not having two races finishing in Rio so close in time.
I forgot about that.
I don't have any preference of week-end to start the BA-Rio race, please feel free to choose any day that is more convenient for the calendar.

Unfortunately for some personal issues I am not able to be on Sol as much as I wish, I start the races late, I BBQ a lot and limp to the finish line on DC's. But, nevertheless, the time I am online I have fun.

Hope all is well with you,
Antonio
captjack - we have one of Aaron's Race legs coming up in the Brisbane to Keppel (an IRL race which we hopefully will be buddied with next year!) but... yes, we deffo need his Tour Down Under :-)

zero - knowing that we had the SYC Championship coming up, also with Rio as a destination I couldn't say too much more before. BUT... BA Rio (or can it be Rio_BAR) is still very much in "pending"!!

Tall Ships Races 2025 - Le Havre to Dunkirk

Welcome to the first of four virtual Tall Ships Races in European waters which are concurrently being organized in-real-life by Sail Training International . The course for this first race is between the French ports of Le Havre and Dunkirk; circa 125nm in Sailonline’s magnificent 90m Barque.
NOTE: Starts and Finishes in tall ships racing are always offshore to avoid conflict with shipping and shipping lanes; online and real-life may not match exactly.

Red Eye - Key Lime Pie-gatta 2025

Opposite the Bahamas at the tip of the Florida peninsula, we find the Florida Keys, a honky-tonk arpeggio of islands, where another SOL classic, the Key Lime Pie-gatta, so-called after the famous local condensed-milk-based tart speciality, awaits to be navigated once again. We’ll race its “Red Eye” 180nm in very-American Santa Cruz 52s, ignoring such artefacts as bridges, causeways and piers joining the keys one to the other and to the mainland!

Sail Around Turkey 2025

Welcome to the 11th running of one of Sailonline's most iconic races, where our fleet races the length of the Turkish coastline from Hopa (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Black Sea coast) to Iskenderun (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast). It’s a 1,372nm race and aboard our classic, 1st decade of the 21st Century, version 2 IMOCA 60, you should be able to get around the course in less than a week. That is if, of course, once you get out of the Black Sea you don’t stop to enjoy the sights or a BBQ or two in the Golden Horn, or on the Marble Islands, now land-locked Troy or Gallipoli or any of the myriad Aegean islands, that you shall have to carefully navigate past.
