Board » General Discussion » IRL Race in Newport RI - 12 Meter Charter

Page: Previous 1 2

My schedule is fairly open.
Here's an update on the 12 Meter Charter...

You don't get anything if you don't ask. I asked for a better rate than the $175 & $195 pp they originally offered. I gave them a target of $150 pp. Their response was that in order to do that we'd have to look at their slower periods. or go down to a 2 hr cruise.

Their fringe periods are May & October which don't really fit in with our needs, but she also offered the week of July 4th which apparently is a relatively slow period for charters.... this is what she offered:

June 30-July 4).
If you would consider chartering sometime then, I would offer the following rates:
3 hour $1750 inclusive of crew or $150 per person with 12 on board.
4 hour $1950 inclusive of crew or $162.50 per person with 12 on board.

My suggestion then would be to have the event on Monday 30 June or Tuesday 1 July.

sounds like a plan...count me IN

I know what I'm getting for christmas.. :)
Either of those dates should work for me.
I hadn't seen this discussion until Tyger pointed me to it. We have America 2 and Lionheart (87 and 80 campaigns respectively) based in Greenwich, Western Long Island Sound. I will be seeing one of the guys involved with running the program for these boats this Saturday and will make some more inquiries. I know they do match racing when they can fill the boats. Details to follow. Photo of the boats attached.
Tony.

Hi Jlinc58,

Unfortunately I am not going to be able to participate. Hope all of you have a wonderful sailing.

All the best,

I can make it work, count me in. Those showing up early can come do some practice sailing on the real Hirilonde. She will be moored in Wickford this summer.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
