Sailonline is delighted to announce that it will be joining Neenah Nodaway Yacht Club in the celebration of 150 years since the club was incorporated in 1864, making it one of the oldest yacht clubs in the USA.

Normally, Lake Winnebago is covered with ice and snow, but for this race, it will be ice-free, and ready to welcome all SOLers to take to the water on J-80s. Chat with NNYC club members during the race and do make time to visit the online club archives.

Race start is 18 January 2014 at 1600utc.

Hello,

I am pleased to announce on behalf of the NNYC board of directors that the winner of the Lake Winnebago NNYC 150th Anniversary Race will be awarded a T-Shirt and other goodies from the NNYC Ship's Store - http://www.nnyc.org/store

Tune those rigs and get ready for another great SOL race on Lake Winnebago. Watch for NNYC boats along the way, and if we pass you, keep in mind that the lake is frozen right now, and we have skates on our keels :)

Good Luck SOLers!

Derek (Note: zowee is now NNYC Scooter)

If the chart doesn't work well for you, feel free to "google" Lake Winnebago and find other images.

Thanks to all who participated in the race! The Neenah Nodaway Yacht Club was thrilled to sponsor this year's race to kickoff the club's 150th Anniversary Celebration. We realize that the hour was late for Europeans, and the winds were lighter than we would have preferred, but it was a fun event for us - see our race day photos at http://www.nnyc.org/online-race and Sailonline gained several new "SOLers" as well as several new SYC members. Watch for NNYC boats in future SOL races.

Chinook Salmon - Canada to Andreanovs

A year after spawning in the upper reaches of the rivers of British Columbia, Chinook Salmon develop the age-old urge, so familiar to SOLers, to go to sea, heading for different parts of the northern Pacific Ocean. This race catches up with a particular school with an instinctive memory for the Andreanov Islands far west on the Aleutian Islands chain, as they depart the Salian Sea between Vancouver Island and the San Juans. It’s 2200nm and we’re taking the 60ft Trimaran, in the hope we can keep up!
