Board » Technical Support » search option for secific item in tech support

Hi there, I've noticed that one cannot search the tech support board for an specific item. I wanted to search the board to see if my problem has been mentioned before and/or solved.
So I think maybe a search option is something to think off.
for my problem I made a new post.
A search function for the forum has been requested a couple of times before. I'm sure at some point we'll have a search function in this, or a new forum.

For now, you can use google to search the sailonline forums, type in:
site:sailonline.org/board parrot
to search for "parrot" on the sailonline forums.
to kroppyer: Thanks for the hint, I'll remember it for next time. Good sailing !
As above can be for hrs just stationnary TA

I did a google search on this and got 328 results.
search forum site:sailonline.org/board

To use google search to search sailonline forums.
use the word or term then type site:sailonline.org/board
example: to find posts on performance loss, type
performance loss site:sailonline.org/board
then hit "enter"...you should get 271 results, which is a lot easier to scan than the entire forum.
Another example: to find posts by javakedna, type
javakeda site:sailonline.org/board
then hit "enter" you'll over 500 mentions of javakedna

Which brings up another question, why not put one of these posts about how to search the forum into the "sticky" category? Also maybe all the "sticky" threads should be in their own section. Maybe under the title "FAQ".

Some time ago I set up a Custom Search provided by Google and anyone can use it from their own browser.

Cut and paste this url into your browse and open it. https://goo.gl/4CJ6K9

Then save/bookmark the page. I call mine "Sailonline.org Forum Search"

You should now have a search facility for the SOL Forum

Just remember it is not part of the SOL web site and is a separate stand alone page generated by Google.

I will see if someone can embed a link in an appropriate place on the SOL site and also follow up Jack's suggestion.

Red Eye - Key Lime Pie-gatta 2025

Opposite the Bahamas at the tip of the Florida peninsula, we find the Florida Keys, a honky-tonk arpeggio of islands, where another SOL classic, the Key Lime Pie-gatta, so-called after the famous local condensed-milk-based tart speciality, awaits to be navigated once again. We’ll race its “Red Eye” 180nm in very-American Santa Cruz 52s, ignoring such artefacts as bridges, causeways and piers joining the keys one to the other and to the mainland!

Sail Around Turkey 2025

Welcome to the 11th running of one of Sailonline's most iconic races, where our fleet races the length of the Turkish coastline from Hopa (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Black Sea coast) to Iskenderun (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast). It’s a 1,372nm race and aboard our classic, 1st decade of the 21st Century, version 2 IMOCA 60, you should be able to get around the course in less than a week. That is if, of course, once you get out of the Black Sea you don’t stop to enjoy the sights or a BBQ or two in the Golden Horn, or on the Marble Islands, now land-locked Troy or Gallipoli or any of the myriad Aegean islands, that you shall have to carefully navigate past.
