Hay all sailors. I promise and will sail the GGR SOTP, in my case like all races, because I don't know anything about using a router on SOL and IRL. I am really excited to sail the GGR on SOL, I hope I will start on time and good winds for everyone

We have verified that there are two boats being skippered by different people here. Thanks.

I will race SOTP
I will once again put up the SOTP flag in flagpole for everyone who had _SOTP added to their name by RC. If you're not familiar with the concept of flagpole: it gives a number of unofficial rankings per race, for example a ranking with only people who declared to sail SOTP. In order to declare this using flagpole, you hoist a flag. You can hoist multiple flags in order to appear in multiple rankings (I believe there's even a 60+ flag for "senior citizens").

The continuous scale of SOTP'ing

The SOTP flag is traditionally for those who do not use routing software. Other tools are allowed, like WxInspector.

From what I understand, in this particular race if you declare to sail SOTP via this thread, you declare note to use any external tools, so no WxInspector or brainaid DC editor. This is a little bit more strict that what the SOTP flag has been used for in the past, but if you declared to sail SOTP in this thread, you are definitely qualified to fly the SOTP flag on flagpole.

I have now also added the RETRO flag. If you hoist this flag you declare not to use any modern help. You only use the official sailonline clients and the options within, but nothing else. You won't even use spreadsheets or calculators. I will not hoist this flag on behalf of you when you declared you are sailing SOTP in this thread, but feel free to hoist the flag yourself over on sol.kroppyer.nl/flagpole/ if you are the die-hard SOTP'er.

______________
While you're logged in at flagpole, you can also hoist a couple of other flags. I personally like the sleepy pennant, which you can hoist in order to be ranked together with other people who don't get up in the middle of the night for a wx update.
SOTP.
Miss Saigon is sailing SOTP.
Hi all, I'm new to the online sailing business, but will give it a crack! SOTP sounds like fun, I'm in :-)
Just my usual.
I will be sailing in this race just like I have sailed in every other race that I have participated in on SOL. SOTP has been the only way I have raced for how many years now!!!

Rapallo to Nador 2026

Welcome to Liguria’s Rapallo, there where Zarathustra spoke - at length - to Nietzsche, for our first race of nine to celebrate all things Mediterranean - fickle winds, history and olive oil. A number of our races in this new Magical Mediterranean series will be partnership with famous real-life races, but this first race is pure fiction - 780nm in refurbed IMOCA 60s, past or through the Balearic Isles and on into the Alboran Sea, to a finish off Nador on the Maroc Mediterranean coast.

Red Eye - Melville Island PYOC 2026

Melville Island is the largest of the Tivi group opposite the port of Darwin in the Timor Sea. Tropically forested and thinly populated, not a lot goes on there, but let’s race around it anyway, lar- or starboard round, it’s a little more than 120nm, so, no matter where you are navigating from on the planet, you will be hard-pressed to complete the course aboard your J-80 in daylight hours!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Guam to Ouvéa

The third race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us southeastward now down the Pacific, from Guam’s Apra Harbour at 13.5 degrees North, back across the Equator to the glorious New Caledonian resort island of Ouvéa, on the edge of the Tropic of Capricorn at 20.5 degrees South. It’s 2400nm, and there’s more than a few other islands in the way, so mind where you go in your Ocean 50s. Race #1981
