Board » Technical Support » Convert Expedition Route to DC's?

Hi all,

I've recently changed from qtVlm to Expedition. Is there a way to convert Expedition route file (.gpx) to DC's? Kropper has a very useful tool for QT to do this. I'm wondering there a similar thing for Expedition? Many thanks in advance.

I’ve run into this same issue when I moved from qtVlm to Expedition. It's definitely not as straightforward, and unfortunately, I haven’t found a direct built-in tool that does a clean conversion like Kropper’s does for qt. I usually export the GPX file from Expedition, then clean it up manually or run it through a third-party converter, though it's a bit clunky. Some folks also use Excel formatting tricks or custom scripts depending on what kind of DC software you’re working with. I’ve picked up a few workarounds and editing tips from these video editing software guides, https://www.movavi.com/learning-portal/free-video-editing-software.html. It is worth a look for formatting insights and handling GPX data visually too.

AGL may be able to do it for you. Try these steps.
1. Open the GPX as a waypoint file in AGL, and clean it up there. You will need to read the manual on what the waypoint commands do.
2. Check them using the VMG waypoint checker, and fix as needed.
3. Use the Convert VMG waypoints into DCs option, and finalise your DCs. You MUST read the manual on how to do this as there are some steps that must be followed on how to do this.

I've generated the Expd gpx file and should be able to incorporate it into the DC table.

Tobruk to Iskenderun 2026

Welcome to the fourth of our nine races across the length and breadth of the Magical Mediterranean Sea, and the second that is not in partnership with a real-life event, this time for good reason, which we won’t get into here. From Tobruk to Iskenderun it’s 670nm in length, with the added complication that the island of Cyprus will be in your way. Hoping, possibly forlornly, for plenty of downwind sailing, we’ll take the Lagoon 55 for the voyage!
