Here's my Excel workbook at https://mega.nz/fm/J5RXgaTQ
for navigating the OD65 from the pre-AGL days. Mega is a free 50MB Cloud store from NZ. I'm just trying it out. Could be I need to share it with others case by case, but perhaps you can just pretend to be me - jan.vanderpuil@gmail.com with pw sa1lonl1ne.
I still use this workbook and its many sisters if I'm sailing Qt-informed but 'by hand'. DON'T UPDATE LINKS, but do allow macro's.
The tab PerfLoss works out PL solutions for you.
The tabs vgprecis and vhprecis give you a read-out of your upwind, downwind and hopping angles. Click the button in cell B1 to toggle from up- to downwind and edit the TWA in cell B1 to pick up different hopping ranges. If you reduce your browser window by bringing in the left margin, you can check your angles as you race.
The tab PerfLoss works out PL solutions for you. How you use that, and the other sheets (WhichEndAgain is quite good)I leave you to figure out yourself.
Nothing is protected, so if you are going to use it, be sure to keep an original copy (which of course you can always go fetch at Mega).

At 4.0N 108.2E lies the island of Natuna Besar, Great Natuna, surrounded by at least 154 islands, of which 127 uninhabited, Indonesia’s Natuna Regency, and all around this archipelago, the Natuna Sea, bordered by Borneo to the east, the Java Sea to the south, and the Malay peninsula to the west, and extending north to cross a disputed international border with China into the South China Sea. And it’s a border that matters, there’s gas here! But why worry, let’s race – 2050nm in our goo’ol’ Open 60s in between the production platforms, prowling destroyers and submarines.

Panama Canal 2026


Sailing in the Panama Canal isn't the best idea, and organizing a race there is simply impossible and unfeasible IRL. In SOL, we have slightly different rules, so why not? A 36nm, frantic race awaits us, and the fast Dehler 30 OD will help us navigate the Panama Canal with grace.
