Hi Jakob and all,

Would be possible to run a few short, day races. Say, max 24 to 36 hours during the weekends.

Also, it would be fun to use "Rambler" again, since last time we used we had to cancel the race.

These latest long races have being hard to concentrate for a wage slave working man like some of us.

Thank you very much. Sol rocks !

Antonio
I totally agree, making long races fit in a working day / week schedule is kinda difficult. Missing a tack with 2 hours won't do if the objective is to compete.
Hi

Thanks for race suggestion!!  I can not promise anything right now but your chances increase VERY much if you send me

1) The coordinates for all waypoints in a list (preferably only using degrees)
2) Race name suggestion
3) Suggested start date and time in UTC
4) Short description (30 words or so)
5) Somewhat longer "invitation" for the SOL front page blog. This might be quite personal and easy-going if you like :-)
6) What boattype would you like?

Regards
Jakob

Jakob,

In my opinion we don't need to race different races all the time.
I personally would be happy to repeat past races sometimes.
We have raced some wonderful short races here in the past that you could re-schedule again.
For example, all the short "in-port" races during the VOR would be great to do again. (In my opinion)
The races around the Sweden Archipelago were also super fun.

Regards,
Antonio
Thanks Jakob and all,

The Bimini race was great, very intense with all the little islands on the way and the shift winds.
Lots of Zig-Zags downwind and the race never turn into a parade.
I really like those type of races.

Nice to have a mix of Long and Short races here on Sol.

Thanks again,

Antonio (Tuze1)

Good ideas to re-run some short ones!!! Thanks :-)

Jakob,

The BBQ race was great.
I really enjoy these very short races.
The level of competition we have here on Sol is so good and intense that if you blink you will loose positions.
I am not saying we need this all the time, but to have these type of intense races sometimes, it is like an Aerobic exercise for your brain, it must be good for your health ;)

Cheers,
-Antonio
Wow, THAT is nice feedback that surely will lead to more short sprint races :-)

I want to thank Winston & Jakob for their encouragement in assembling a race proposal that will encompass the length & breadth of Lake Superior featuring some notable and picturesque Lighthouses. This is still a 'work in progress' but if successful it will, I believe, fulfill the shorter format being talked about here.

Andaman Islands PYOC 2025

The Andaman Islands are an archipelago, made up of 200 islands, in the northeastern Indian Ocean. Together with the Nicobar Islands to their south, the Andamans serve as a maritime boundary between the Bay of Bengal to the west and the Andaman Sea to the east. These waters will be the theater of our next 240nm race in the ARCH 2025 series. Which one you choose depends only on you, i.e. your Elan 410 sport will leave the Andaman Islands on the starboard or port side.

Isla San Lorenzo RTI 2025

SOL’s SRC (Sailonline Race Committee) has taken us to some unusual places in the past, and San Lorenzo Island off Lima’s Callao peninsula is definitely another one. Housing a naval base and a penal institution, no vessel is allowed within 300m of its shores. Also, with no sources of potable water, it is a matter of debate whether it is an island at all, and not just a large rock. So, whatever you do, don’t be tempted to BBQ; you’ll be arrested and go thirsty! We return for the first time since 2018 to race thirteen potentially unlucky miles in J-30s; have fun!!

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Carnarvon to Dondra

From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!
