I see where we have almost reached the point where we have 30 races counted in the overall ranking, so I would like to resurrect an old suggestion.

Is there any way to indicate which races are the oldest, or at least which is the next race to drop off. It's the first thing I usually look at... what finish do I have to replace or can I improve on? Am I about to lose a top ten finish or a DNF? What about the guy I'm trying to pass in the rankings?

There might be several ways to implement this. Perhaps there's one that wouldn't be too difficult on the overworked SOL gods?

You could go to race archives and see which is oldest.

I would also like to have that, Journey. The presentation of the rankings could be improved in many other ways.

As for many other suggestions, the problem is to find the resources to implement these changes.

I thought there might be an easy fix, perhaps just adding the date or race number to the name of each race.

Do you know how the chronology is determined? It is not a straightforward lookup as capnjack suggests. Does SOL go by the race numbers (currently around 223) that you see in your address window? The date/time a race begins? Ends? Or is it always in the order they appear in the archive?

I'm really not obsessed with rankings but it's one of the benefits of joining SYC, and I think it adds to the fun to know what you have to beat to improve your number. As most of us are not often in contention for the podium, it creates a game within the game, sort of racing against yourself, or racing to improve.

Welcome to Sailonline’s partnership with the City of Livorno (Leghorn say the English) in cooperation with the local yacht clubs and the Italian Navy, offering all the online opportunity to race the famous Regata dell’Accademia Navale - 630nm in length. Starting and finishing in Livorno, this year the race takes you the length and breadth of the Tyrrhenian Sea via little Mortorio (Mortoriotto) off Sardinia to Capri and home again to Livorno. This race also counts towards Sailonline’s Magical Mediterranean Series and the SuperBuddy title. Generalfeldmarschall Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel may have been that chivalrous, gallant tank commander of legend, led astray by the Prussian military traditions of loyalty and chain of command, but one thing he wasn’t, was mad. So, let’s do it anyway – not stick to the coast and the battle for logistical superiority – but depart the oases of Siwa south west into the desert for Agadez and its uranium. Falklands to Tasmania 2026
