Board » Flag Officers » Race proposals » Admirals Cup?

How easy would it be to run a 'teams of three' admirals Cup type race (sorry I didn't use the race proposals pro forma for this but it doesn't really fit).

The idea would be to have three different rated classes - each team of three must be made up of one of each.

Placing would be based on teh combined score of all three competitors in the team.

Solo and teams of two could also enter the race but would not be eligable for the team prize.

The teams of three would self select and the race officer woudl be notified which boats were 'teamed up'. This could be done on the boat chat section or on the forum.

Any thoughts?

Best wishes

I quite like the idea, but it is difficult to implement for SOL.

Regards,

Francois
Fun idea.

Why not let teams self-organise within a "normal" race? RC's practice race gang have proven the feasibility of using the forums to track such things :-) Not to mention the (mostly) French team effort.

It's not clear yet whether the live tracker is going to be up for this year's Swiftsure (May 29) but we have three boats in the system already that might do the trick.

TP 52
Riptide 50
Santa Cruz 52

Line honours / SOL ranking points would be the TP52 - boats willing to forgo points for a weekend race could round out the other two, or race informal handicap via the forum.

Swiftsure runs PHRF, with (provisional) ratings of -81,-63,-15 for the race (~24h) TP52 owes Riptide 42 min and SC52 154. Riptide Owes SC52 112 minutes...

As always, SOL ranking points would only based on elapsed time

If there is interest from the fleet, let's here it! Race organising (particularly when we can do it behind-the-scenes/on-the-fly) is user-driven.
