Hi all

Attached is the current draft of the August calendar - please let me know here or in chat if you see any problems with it!!

As attachments can't be deleted, newer versions will bear a succeeding letter of the alphabet!

The attachment called Aug0809 is a screengrab of races run in August during 2008 and 2009 for reference.

As a direct result of comments made in the General Discussions Forum, the August Calendar is undergoing revision. The two attached pics represent the latest model - hopefully closer to a fun calendar for ALL SOLers!!!

As always... please don't hesitate to voice your "constructive" comments!!

RC, I like the proposed format. There seems like a good mix of long and short races.
Personally, when the timing is right, shorter races suit me. But, that timing can change from day to day let alone week to week and I like the mix of short & long races running together.
I appreciate the changes made so quickly, response times like this for the group will make SOL (if not already) the premier online racing platform.
Sadly, in my line of work my available time is limited. If there is something I can offer to help the team please let me know. I am not tied to a desk or computer, however I can access one at various times during the day/night. Unless I lose satellite connection (which accounts for most of my beachings during racing).
Keep up the good work.
Bear.
REVISION IN LINE WITH RECENT DISCUSSIONS!

ALTERNATIVE style of calendar - using a simple spreadsheet.

What do you think?

Much easier to read. I like it.
The spreadsheet is a plus. This is very good. Keep up the great work!

The sea is lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to sail before I sleep, And miles to sail before I sleep.

Christmas to Christmas Island 2025

Two waypoints, start and finish, and between them 5827 NM of two oceans. Not much time if we want to sit at the Christmas Eve table. You will need to maintain an average speed of over 10 knots, maybe quite possible with this Maxi Trimaran, but prepare your vessel well and choose the best of the many possible routes. Hands up everyone who knew there were TWO Christmas Islands?! OK, maybe you have sailed this Sailonline course before... but it's time to get ready for the 2025 challenge of racing between Christmas Island in the Pacific to Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean! It also marks the conclusion of our prestigious Ocean Race Championship 2025. Please have fun! Fair winds!

Andaman Islands PYOC 2025

The Andaman Islands are an archipelago, made up of 200 islands, in the northeastern Indian Ocean. Together with the Nicobar Islands to their south, the Andamans serve as a maritime boundary between the Bay of Bengal to the west and the Andaman Sea to the east. These waters will be the theater of our next 240nm race in the ARCH 2025 series. Which one you choose depends only on you, i.e. your Elan 410 sport will leave the Andaman Islands on the starboard or port side.

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Carnarvon to Dondra

From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!
