Started the race 0544UTC a bit late. I knew the race would start Wednesday but not taking into acount the time differance from Europe. But I enjoy the racing so what can be done. A rerun on another day?. Last night was my first good nights sleep in along time. Not waking up at 0000UTC or 0200UTC to check on how far back from the front i am. I appreciate the work that goes into SOL and enjoy the racing. Thanks SOL.
As far as i know, a race can only be set up with a fixed starting time, which can't be changed later on. That's the reason, why SOL won't have been able to reflect the postponement of the real race, even if a SOL-God would have been online.

And this might even be the reason, why this race popped up a bit surperisingly, only a few hours in advance, if the Starttime of the real race wasn't set more than these few hours in advance... and possibly a few hours of time shift between NZL and Europe.

Nevertheless, a Notice on the Blog that Leg 3 is to Start on March 2nd, but hte exact time isn't set yet, would have been nice, to alert folks to watch out.
Please will you take this discussion to the Sailonline Yacht Club Forum where there is a poll running, on what to be done in relation to the RNI series, and an opportunity for folks to air their views.

It would be preferable to keep this thread for news about the race, rather than SOL-specific issues.

The SOL homepage blog reflects the information we were given in relation to the start of Leg 3, the vote in the SYC Forum allows you to decide on how to rectify (or leave alone) what has happened in relation to the RNI series and what (perhaps) should be done in the future with other races where SOL and a local race organiser buddy-up.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
