Board » Technical Support » IMOCA Leg 3 won't load

Trying to log in to finish the race and finding Leg 3 will load the basic screen but not the race. I've tried IE and Firefox, cleared caches etc, etc to no avail. See attachment for what I get on screen.

I've loaded leg 4 - no problem at all, so seems to be limited to the Leg 3 race.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

I believe the leg closed at 23:00 (just 23 minutes before you were trying).

The GO TO RACE has also been removed from the front screen.

Enjoy leg 4!
I should have mentioned that I was registered and in the race, near the finish.. I didn't think it would have been closed to those still competing...
Well, still won't load up. Can anyone else finished or otherwise, access leg 3?
Sean - Leg 3 is now closed.

SOL does like to try and keep Legs of races open, even when it would be illogical in reality (how can you sail Leg 4 and Leg 3 at the same time) but due to the coincidental timing with the start of the Round North Island race,it was just not technically possible to keep Leg 3 open longer than 2300utc on Friday.

I too am frustrated, even though it was I who closed Leg 3, because for the first time since Ijoined SOL I had to leave my boat mid-ocean. I didn't even manage to beach her!

To put in immense time and effort and concentration into one's SOLing and then not be able to complete the task is a very rare occurrence but it is also important to maintain the timeliness of an ocean race.

SOL tries to strike a good balance between reality and virtuality and is very sorry that folks have been discountenanced this time.
Hi RC,

Ahh, mystery solved. I hadn't yet been in a situation where I didn't make the finish line before a race was closed and for the life of me I couldn't work out why I could get into some races and yet not this particular one. I thought there might have been a technical issue. Thanks again to you and Jadesmomva!

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
