Rainbow..A timed race would be fun. My favourite is the Boston, but the main things are....windy and a fast boat...VO 70 is the best....and it can be anywere....The Aluetians (?) could perhaps be a good place...Robert
Robert
Robert - did you not see that there IS a timed race already included?? At the moment it is Cowes-St Malo but it might be a longer one in that same area :-)
In FEB, I designed and submitted 3 races with not a single comment from the SOL community. Ah well... perhaps no interest. Will just keep on sailing quietly.
I have also designed a few races. Even have a race seriess now called 2011 SOJORA Series.
No races have been posted, but I am sure they will be.
Have patience... I am sure we are not the only ones designing and submitting races.
Its fun designing them anyway.
St. Lucie - Jupiter Ocean Racing Association (SJORA)
ShamPir - I am so sorry.. there was I thinking I was up to date with setting up SOLer races.. at least so they are happily sitting in the archive waiting for a slot time... and I read your post.

I have revisited the Race Proposals Forum and will be endeavouring to make up for not working on your races before now.

Oddly enough as my closest chum lives just S of Tampa I had been thinking a race on that side of FL would be fun and.. voila! you have made one for us!!

I will post in the Race Proposals Forum as soon as each race is set up so you can have a look at how it will appear when being raced.

@RC pls schedule my 'short adriatic race' asap as a Weekend race starting i.e. Friday 1. April if that slot is still free ;)
start time friday at 10UTC and finish Sunday at 17 UTC would be most 'realistic'.

mmartin - we "discussed" this in the Race Proposals forum and your race is scheduled for 1 April @ 1800utc. This time is good as 1 April is a Friday and it is morning in Australia/NZ, early morning in USA and evening in Europe/Africa.

So.. hopefully.. a bunch of people will sign up to race in our first Adriatic race on SOL!

Thessaloniki to Port Said 2026

Welcome back to the Eastern Mediterranean for the fifth race of our Magical Mediterranean Series. Only marginally less unlikely to be ever raced in real life during SOL’s lifetime than our previous race from Tobruk to Iskenderun, this 710nm race takes us from Greece’s ancient northern port of Thessaloniki through the Aegean island maze, south east into the Levantine Sea to a finish in modern Port Said, in splendid Swan 65s!

TuziTekwini TIMED Race 2026

Sailonline is delighted to have been invited again to partner with the King Shaka Yacht Club (KSYC) of South Africa to bring a virtual version of the Tuzi Tekwini Ocean Raceto our online community.
The Tuzi Tekwini Ocean Race is a near 90 nautical mile race down the east coast of South Africa from the port of Richards Bay to the port of Durban. Achievable in a single day and seen by some as an easy mile-builder, the course is more tactical than some think and should not be underestimated. This iconic race promises to be an unforgettable experience for yachting enthusiasts.
Our online version of the race will be a TIMEDrace so you may RE-REGISTER HEREto try again after finishing a run. You will have two weeks to test your skill and decision making after the race opens.

Cross the Convergence 2026 - St Helena to Cape Verde

The fourth race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us out of the Pacific into the Atlantic for a 2200nm race in Judel Vrolijk 62’s, from the desolation of St Helena, there where Napolean Bonaparte saw out the end of his life, to the even greater desolation of Fogo in the Cape Verde’s. You’ll have to cross the equator, with the coasts of Africa and South America your only navigational restrictions.
