Rod - for what it is worth, no-one on SOL (including the Admins) gets paid to do anything... its all done because folks love SOL!!!

To RC. I know that. I was just stating that I do SOL for 'fun'. If I let a router, or brain's program do it for me, the HE has the fun.
I do hope that those who work out these programs have fun doing it.
And I hope they aren't offended when I don't utilize all of their hard work, and persist in doing it myself.
I used a router in the VORG, and at one time in the VORG I had four boats running, not because I wanted them, but because I had lost contact with the program because of my inexperience with running the racing program and I got mixed up and replaced the missing boats, only to find them again when I got more expert at it. Trying to run several boats at once was just too confusing.
I hope this clarifies my words, above, which seem to have been mis-interpreted.
If it breaks, it's not strong enough--if it doesn't, it's too heavy.

Yes Rod it is indeed fun creating tools for use with SOL, and no there is absolutely no offence as to whether people choose to use them or not, although it is always nice to hear someone finds a tool you created useful and/or has helped them to race. I mostly make mine available to maintain the 'free for any/all to use' philosophy :-)

And for the record, brainaid's toolbox does not do anything for you, it just allows you to enter DCs in a Date/Time format instead of a decimal hours offset like in the SOL client, and also to easily adjust a DC - in the SOL client you need to completely replace it (which is all brainaid's DC Editor does to, just in a more user friendly manner). Also to set or delete multiple DCs in a single go.
So in terms of setting a DC for start of practice race it is probably the best way to do so, as you can directly enter the exact time you want it to fire (and it has nothing to do with your own PC clock).

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Guam to Ouvéa


The third race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us southeastward now down the Pacific, from Guam’s Apra Harbour at 13.5 degrees North, back across the Equator to the glorious New Caledonian resort island of Ouvéa, on the edge of the Tropic of Capricorn at 20.5 degrees South. Lake Victoria TIMED Race 2026

This month’s TIMED race takes us inland to Lake Victoria in the heart of Africa. Starting at Rosebery Channel in Uganda sail the AC72v2 on a 196nm course around Bugala Island on the way to the finish line in Tanzania’s Speke Gulf. This is a TIMEDrace so you may RE-REGISTER HEREto try again after finishing a run. You will have 13 days and 11 hours to test your skill and decision making after the race opens.

SSANZ Round North Island Race 2026 - Leg 4

The final challenge awaits in Leg Four of the Round North Island Series! From Napier, the fleet sets off on a 354 nautical mile run back to Auckland, completing the full circumnavigation where the journey began. Fatigue may be setting in, but this last leg could decide the overall standings. Sailing the fast and responsive Sun Fast 3600, our skippers will need sharp tactics and steady focus to finish the series strong and claim victory!

Iceland to the Falklands 2026

Welcome to an all-new route, the first of three Round the 'Old World' of Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. To give each leg of the ROW a bit of length we'll try to hug the coasts as little as possible, so starting in Iceland our first leg of the series, which will also be the final leg of our Quarter 1 Ocean Championships takes us 7200nm to the Falklands, the full length of the Atlantic end to end. To make sure we'll get it done within the month we'll be sailing our Maxi Trimaran.
