Hi @all

Problem: sailonline.org: website stopps while beeing loaded.
Neither in firefox or in IE7 i can open completly
Mozilla shows 'waiting for connect.facebook.net...' in status-line.

Also other websites have the same problem while most load correctly.

I think, it is a windows setting or browser-setting.
Tried already to check everything.
I have no idea.

I'm using
vista srvpack 2
mozilla firefox 4.01

Kind regards
Achim
Hi Achim - the only suggestion I can offer is to empty your browser cache and then to check that you have the latest version of Flash loaded.

To do this you can either right-click on the game screen (if the frame appears) or if you can't see that at all, then go to:

http://www.adobe.com/ap/products/flashplayer

and click on the download. The Adobe site will tell you if your version of Flash is up to date.

I have brought your post to the attention of the SOL Gods in the Engine Room so maybe they, who are way more techie than me, can help or, perhaps, even another SOLer will help!

Good luck!
Hello Achim,

You aleady noted it in your post, something must be wrong with your computer settings. While loading a Sol page there is no need to wait for a server over at facebook.

Clean up the cache of the browser, check the default page the browser loads at start and have a look if there are any proxy settings incorrect. Cleaning the history might help too.

I suspect IE is having no issues loading the pages, have a look.

Let us know if you got it and what it was.

Jeroen

I am a ex-admin of SOL who joins in from time to time.
Hi Folks,
i got it!!!

Tried everything the whole day long...
disabled spybot, firewall, all what was possible to disabel, hacked the registry,...
->same error

downgraded Mozilla to 3.17
->same error

With the nerves at the end
i looked for Windows-Updates and installed 3 optional Updates for my NVIDIA Hardware (grafic-card, Network-adapter)
->everythng works fine ;-)

I suggest it was a problem of the network driver during communication with the DSL-Modem.
That's real computer-live. How stupid.

The cause of all this trouble was that i had to reinstall completly the pc with the original software-release as of the date when i bought (3years ago) it.

Please forgive my long story ;-)
Now i can go to sail IMSYS 2011...

Kind regards
Achim

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
