The NoR doesnt mention marks just after the start but there are several on the playing scren. What is the go with these?

Don't worry, these are marks for the practice races held on the last few evenings. They will disappear on recall, one hour from the race start.

Also keep in mind that it is the official NOR I have posted here. You can find the Sol NOR on the right hand in the race description.

My temptation is hugging the East coast of Africa including going inside Madagascar all the way up to the first mark.
In SOL we don't need to watch out for the pirates. I suppose the Volvo boats will go East of Madagascar.

Will be an interesting leg.
The light winds at the last days of the leg might be nerve-wracking for the leaders.

From Napier, the fleet sets off on a 354 nautical mile run back to Auckland, completing the full circumnavigation where the journey began. Iceland to the Falklands 2026

Welcome to an all-new route, the first of three Round the 'Old World' of Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. To give each leg of the ROW a bit of length we'll try to hug the coasts as little as possible, so starting in Iceland our first leg of the series, which will also be the final leg of our Quarter 1 Ocean Championships takes us 7200nm to the Falklands, the full length of the Atlantic end to end.
