Yes it is (see attached pic) - I clicked on "Change program" and reselected Web Start Launcher in case that made a difference but it didn't.

However.. I do notice some movement of icons on the bottom LH of my screen, where all active programs are, as if something is opening/closing v quickly?

By the way, just tried it on another win7 machine here, also does not work..

I'll guess it is the latest java update icw Win7 ?

Roberto
Seems to be a tricky problem , i still run old Vista, have disabled any updates, except virus scan and so on...

It is only a suggestion - that newer update's caused the problem ?

Good luck (Poco)
Could you try to open a command terminal and start Java Webstart by hand? You need to type:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaws.exe
    -verbose
    <Path to your browsers downloads>\NMEAproxy.jnlp

The above all in one line, followed by <Enter>. You can locate the NMEAproxy.jnlp by looking into your browsers just downloaded files.

It would be interesting to see if there is any error output in the command window or if it starts like this.

Maybe you can also enable Java Console to check if there are further messages. This is done as described here:

The sea is lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to sail before I sleep, And miles to sail before I sleep.

Eddie, sorry, not quite sure what I am to type at the command prompt?

When it opens it is at:

c:\Users\jsbc>

and I don't know how to get to program files and... I type the word "verbose" in the middle?

I am obviously typing it wrong.. here is a pic of my command screen :-(

Ok, openend the logging for java, and basically nothing happens :)
when i open another java page, it's a data stream, but on this app it does not react..

I would aspect it would ask for the digital sign, but apperantly it does only download the NMEA app, but after that it the route stops.

The CL command also does basically nothing.. :)

again, i tried it on a very clean win7/java7.07 machine ( from the miss ) and also there a complete no go.

Hmm, interesting, the java console stops after hitting the NMEA app..i see in the processtable that javaws is starting, but it stops 4 seconds later

ok, did a clean install of win 7 ( mainly to clean a lot of other stuff ) but still a no go..

Hi Henk,
stop to fiddle with your VM's. It's race time. I still did not see any COM-Ports. So no GPS-data in BWR. Take a Genever and try to beat me !

Lake Ontario 300 Challenge 2025

Lake Ontario Offshore Racing (LOOR) welcomes Sailonline sailors (SOLers for short) to a second virtual version of a race in their annual series, the LO300. As the name implies, the LO300 is a 300nm offshore race across the length and breadth of Lake Ontario, from and back to Port Credit YC. Once again, as is our wont on Lake Ontario, a fleet of Beneteau First 36.7s is being made available to virtual racers. There is an overall prize for the SOLer who best bosses Lake Ontario over the two races hosted by Sailonline, this 300 and the Susan Hood raced back in May; so, let the competition be fierce!

Red Eye - Key Lime Pie-gatta 2025

Opposite the Bahamas at the tip of the Florida peninsula, we find the Florida Keys, a honky-tonk arpeggio of islands, where another SOL classic, the Key Lime Pie-gatta, so-called after the famous local condensed-milk-based tart speciality, awaits to be navigated once again. We’ll race its “Red Eye” 180nm in very-American Santa Cruz 52s, ignoring such artefacts as bridges, causeways and piers joining the keys one to the other and to the mainland!

Sail Around Turkey 2025

Welcome to the 11th running of one of Sailonline's most iconic races, where our fleet races the length of the Turkish coastline from Hopa (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Black Sea coast) to Iskenderun (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast). It’s a 1,372nm race and aboard our classic, 1st decade of the 21st Century, version 2 IMOCA 60, you should be able to get around the course in less than a week. That is if, of course, once you get out of the Black Sea you don’t stop to enjoy the sights or a BBQ or two in the Golden Horn, or on the Marble Islands, now land-locked Troy or Gallipoli or any of the myriad Aegean islands, that you shall have to carefully navigate past.
