Board » Flag Officers » Races » AGage Around Australia Series: Leg 4 - SYDNEY to GOLD COAST

This is another IRL race run by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. Run in the last week of July each year, it has become an important race on the Australian calendar as it is the beginning of the late winter/spring circuit in the warmer northern waters of Australia. The fleet always consists of the top yachts: maxis, RP63s TP52s and the latest forty footers as well as classic and cruising divisions.
The course start and the journey up the harbour are the same as the Sydney to Hobart. When out through the Heads, turn left instead of right. A straight NNE course but the winds can be fickle. Also, IRL the yachts would have to deal with the East Australian Current (EAC). Sailors and oceanographers have known about the EAC but it was made famous by the Disney animation "Finding Nemo". A great conveyer belt for tropical fish wanting to visit Sydney but it means yachts heading north have to hug the coast to avoid its full force. Watch out for small islands along the course.
The race finish is off the Southport Seaway on Queensland's Gold Coast, the sun and surf holiday capital of Australia.

Invitation:
The Gold Coast is a magnet for holiday makers and yachts alike. The host club, the Southport Yacht Club is one of the friendliest on the yachting circuit. It is a major stop off point for yachts heading to or returning from the Great Barrier Reef so you will find sailors from all over the world having a chat at the bar or out on the deck.
So join us on Leg4 of the A3 Series as we head to the warm, laid-back and friendly northern parts of Australia.

Boats: TP52
Distance: 384 NM
Estimated duration: 2 to 3 Days

Red Eye - Key Lime Pie-gatta 2025

Opposite the Bahamas at the tip of the Florida peninsula, we find the Florida Keys, a honky-tonk arpeggio of islands, where another SOL classic, the Key Lime Pie-gatta, so-called after the famous local condensed-milk-based tart speciality, awaits to be navigated once again. We’ll race its “Red Eye” 180nm in very-American Santa Cruz 52s, ignoring such artefacts as bridges, causeways and piers joining the keys one to the other and to the mainland!

Sail Around Turkey 2025

Welcome to the 11th running of one of Sailonline's most iconic races, where our fleet races the length of the Turkish coastline from Hopa (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Black Sea coast) to Iskenderun (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast). It’s a 1,372nm race and aboard our classic, 1st decade of the 21st Century, version 2 IMOCA 60, you should be able to get around the course in less than a week. That is if, of course, once you get out of the Black Sea you don’t stop to enjoy the sights or a BBQ or two in the Golden Horn, or on the Marble Islands, now land-locked Troy or Gallipoli or any of the myriad Aegean islands, that you shall have to carefully navigate past.
