having been away I have tried this evening and the race is now operating correctly. Can you please advise me what was done and was I the only person to have been affected?

Thanks for your help. I have done the steps you suggested but to no avail. The problem is only on the 1 race, the Lisbon & timed race both operate normally.
That said this race does work ok on my laptop - the only difference is the laptop is Win7 32 bit & the PC is Wn7 64 bit - not sure if that is a factor?

  • REPORTING TECHNICAL ISSUES
    Board » Technical Support
I am having serious problems with the Santa Monica race it that the messages posted will not clear so I am unable to steer my ship or in fact do anything.
However this does highlight a problem that there is no (appears) way to report a technical fault to be looked at quickly and reported back.
This is the second problem recently and it is destroying my enjoyment of SOL - I'm not prepared to spend hours racing just to be told that because someone has been disadvantaged teh race ius scrubbed, yet never seems to happen when I havea problem

I was very disappointed in the decision making process by which, because of the outage, the results were nullified. As far as I can see it, no-one gained an advantage because of the outage, it just affected some more than others. I have also been in a position where previous outages have affected my race, but i would not expect special treatment, which seems to be the case here. Consider a yacht demasting, would all the rest of the racers have been penalised? I think in future that, unless it is proven that one player gained an advantage then the races should be left to run. Hello. I am getting an RSL Error 1 of 2, Error#2046 when signing into a race normally.

Works OK on Classic, have tried changing address line to "beta=true" but error comes back.

If anyone is looking for improvements to SOL then a radar system would be great - I'm fed up of running into rocks I can only see on maximum magnification!

As SOL knows where the rocks are and where the boat is and the course that is headed then perhaps a "collision alarm" at say 5nm? I would not suggest any form of auto system, you might be deliberatly aiming to crash into those rocks for a BBQ or something!

Africa by Sea - Abidjan to Swakopmund

Our exploration of Africa by Sea continues. Next, it’s off to Swakopmund, on the water’s edge of the Kalahari desert. It’s a wind-blasted coast, and a venue of choice for those seeking to set wind-powered speed records. More likely than not, we’ll have to beat into it in our Steinlager II, to finally find some shelter behind the walls of Platz am Meer where there is a marina of sorts. Only 2200nm!
