It is with deep sorrow that Sailonline announces the recent death in Adelaide, S Australia, of Aaron Gage on 29 June. Known to us all as AGage, Aaron will be sadly missed. As a SOL Admin, Aaron was inexhaustibly energetic and always thinking of the next enhancement or modification for SOL and as a SOLer Aaron always made time to explain things clearly and simply for the rest of us. The forums and our memories are full of the advice he offered. As a memorial to Aaron, SOL is running his Tour Down Under race, while the current Beta client will be a lasting legacy. _________________ Please feel free to write any messages of memorial or condolence here. After a while I will print them off and post them to Aaron's family (or if I find an email, will link to the thread). _________________ Message from Aaron's Family Re: Aaron Gage from his family. Knowing Aaron's absolute passion for SOL, it was with inconsulable grief that I came to notify you of his sudden death. It was a shock to find his beautiful face and the words you had already written. I went to the forum thread wondering what it was. How my tears fell as I began to read such beautiful words about my darling son. It did not take long for my grief to turn into pride and joy as I realized just how many people his life had touched. Thankyou to each and every one who took the time to express your gratitude to Aaron for his passion, generosity, skills and devotion to SOL and to you personally. You will not forget him; we, his family and friends, will always remember the words you have written. You have truly soothed our breaking hearts. 	wherever you are mate you will be missed by the many friends you made here in such a short time, we all owe you so very much thank you for the time you spent with us and your legacy of so many of sols features.. you will be missed so very much bye

	my condolences and sympathy to Aaron's family and friend on the SOL...such sorrow to loose such a young lad at his prime. we shall miss him on the SOL...his last registration was the Pb3 2012 - Pirita beach - Paralepa beach - Parnu beach with a start at 20:00 hrs on June 29th, 2012...he was not able to start the race. 	My deepest sympathy and condolences, but Aaron has left a great legacy in SOL. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

	My eyes are full of tears and for long time I did not cry.It is to big strike for me and I am so sad. Rest in peace my dear friend I liked this man even if I never met him.From the conversations in the chat you decide whether you like the person or not and I did like him. He has made incredible improvements in this virtual sailing site. I remember him many times leading the race and than foaling asleep and destroy everything.The other time he was in the lead and had to take his young daughter to the doctor and obviously lost the top position. He was so happy once when he won the race and all the favorites were in the race. He was very good virtual sailor. When he started winning many races I asked him, where did he comes from,other virtual sailing site.He said he is only here on SOL for several years and before he was mediocre sailor but learned from the best on this site. Several times recently I asked myself,where is A.Gage,but than thought he has probably a lot of work with his real boat. I miss you A.Gage My sincere condolences to his family Damir

Jakob's Birthday BBQ Race 2024

Sailonline had two founders and Jakob, the more senior of the two, has his birthday in April which we always like to celebrate with a race through the Stockholm Archipelago from Revengegrundet Lighthouse to his mooring at Baggensfjärden. Traditionally also, like other celebrations this time of year, this feast has been “moveable”, so on this occasion we will be racing on a Wednesday in one of our latest high-performance 40-footers, the Carkeek 40. Melbourne to Osaka Prelude 2024

Welcome once again to what these days is Sailonline’s almost annual virtual Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race. In real life, this double-handed 5500 nm race between these two sister cities, one deep in the southern hemisphere, the other high in the northern hemisphere, is run every four to five years, and is planned to be held again in 2025, so this race is a Prelude in partnership with the Melbourne Osaka Cup 2025 organising committee collaborating with the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV), and the Sandringham (SYC) and Osaka Hokko (OHYC) yacht clubs. On this occasion, we’ll be racing the well-known First 40, a popular size of boat for a long-distance double-handed race. With the doldrums unavoidably lying across the track, you can expect to be at virtual sea for at least a month!

St Nazaire Chasse TIMED Race 2024

Welcome to a "chasse" (hunt) from St. Nazaire to La Baule on the west coast of France! This race was designed by SOLer FR_flouflou in 2010. The KER 40 was introduced to SOL in 2016 by SOLer psail, and the Sol-KER was a welcome addition to SOL’s fleet of 40- footers, as it was to the IRL Ker fleet of eponymous - like KERonimo, KukuKERchu and Ice BreaKER. This is a TIMEDrace, so you may RE-REGISTER HERE to try again, after finishing a run. You will have 13 days and 11 hours to show your skill and decision making after the race opens.

The Beagle in the Straits of Magellan 2024

Both before and after visiting the Falkland Islands, the Beagle extensively explored the south eastern coast of South America, hither and thither, from north of the Rio Plate to the tip of Tierra del Fuego, but it was not till the end of June 1834 that the ship made it into the Pacific Ocean, transiting via the Straits of Magellan. Online in 2024, the choice is yours - passage the strait or round the cape; 400nm or more in your Class B Tall Ship.

Cape Town to Auckland 2024

Welcome to the second leg of this Round The World series 2024. It's also the April edition of this year's ocean race championship. The course is the same as the one sailed in 2023, but this year we sail the iconic Swan 65, as suggested in the concluding RTW race last year.
