RC , let start like this:NOR is the most important document of the race. It should be precise and well understood by everyone.
There is no changes in NOR if it is not 100 pcnt sure, that all the participants of the race could be notified.
Regarding the timed race if the race starts as soon as it is opened for registration than the registration is the start of the race and no changes should be done in NOR regarding the start.
Regarding the closure of the race in my opinion only the exact time of the start of the last run should be set which should therefore correspond to closure of the registration.
This way, it could be avoided that some boats in a very good, eventually winning run are stopped.
The above is important, as for start of first run, might be good wind which is diminishing and starting as soon as possible is convenient.
Contrary is for the start of the last run the the wind is increasing and it is convenient to start as late as possible.

hey MS,SP and JW,the problems raised in the past just because we did not know exactly when to start racing or registration opening. When there was a very favorable wind at start and than the wind is diminishing,of course it is very important to start as earlier as possible.
The same problem raised for the last run when the wind is increasing and it is necessary to know what is the exact latest time of last run.
Remember Texel timed race

In order to avoid misunderstandings it is very important for timed races to know exactly the time when you could start racing.
So when you register you should be aware that all the times you acquire before the race start will not count.
It is also important to know exact start time of last trial,so whoever starts after that time his trial will not be valid.
It is also important that no changes are made of those start times during the race or better after the NOR.
We all want the fair sailing for all the participants.
Tomorrow is The 100 Guineas Cup Race- a timed race which starts at 12 00 hrs UTC.
After registering you may make a trial race but hold in mind it is not counting if it is made before the start time. You should calculate to terminate that trial by the start time if you wish to have your first regular time.

RC, very sorry for your loss of beloved Mr.K.
Don't wait long and buy yourself a new young dog.Maybe even better adopt one from dog shelter as that would probably like Mr.K. from heavens.

SWE 54,I am sorry you feel that way and would be even more sorry if you leave SOL.
Definitely there is some more touch of us real sailors that we follow real races.Sometimes however, real races are postponed for reasons of strong wind which does not affect us armchair sailors. That is usually last hour postponement which we reasonably can not follow as we are not there on spot as real sailors and we all should be advised in time,at least 24 hrs earlier.
Rainbow Chaser is giving her soul into organizing the races and her not being a real sailor does some minor mistakes, but we are all here to help her with advises, which she always gladly accepts.
Therefor SWE 54 give your proposal of which real races we should include in our calendar and do not leave us.
I was sailing in both Many Players and Virtual Regatta and truly they can not be compared with SOL.
best regards

hey RICO,I am sorry for you too and especially now that I know in last your podium the race did not count too.
I have seen many tracks, in that last tack towards arrival line, with many very small zig zags including yours.Tell me what did you do than than? I suppose nothing as the zig zags are all equal. I was continuously tacking for 150 deg.In last 4 zig zags the boat stopped to the wind far away from arrival line.
You must admit the race was not regular. Some boats are damaged more than others and that's the luck.
The next timed race is decided not to count too where I am on podium, but I must admit those starting earlier had advantage of stronger wind and that is not fair.

POCOBUENO,
1stly "yours" is related to you as a group and not to you as a single
2ndly you all together followed the map and not the words from NOR,rightly for you as you fallowed your habits.
3RDLY nothing to do with real races till certain extent as when something is not explained in SOL we have to relay on the rules of real sailing and NOR is the most important instruction of a race.
4thly I did not do the mistake but I simply did not follow recent habits of the group as unaware of them.
5thly the race comity behaved rightly as I followed the rules

POCOPBUENO,I am sorry that you are still angry abt that particular race where I followed NOR instead of yr habits in PR.
I did not participate in PR since last winter and did not know yr habits.Prior to that race and almost up to the first mark I was busy doing something else and even started on DC.
Closing the mark I looked at the chat, sow SASSY's remark that I should turn the island.Firstly I thought it is the joke but after the remarks from the others realized you all are going around the island. At that stage it was too late for me to go around the island as would have probably lost 10 pos.at least.Therefor I continued to follow the NOR instructions for the rest of the race.
Definitely I had huge advantage on the others by following NOR and officially there is no way I could be DSQ.
When the habits become the rules, than those rules should be exhibited in order that all be acquainted with them.
I did not follow yr habits as I didn't know them but most probably many others who would sail in PR for 1st would do the same.
Therefor I am not to blame,I am not to be called the cheater as that I am definitely not here and even less in real life.
I shall give you an example of my real life racing the regattas.
Few years ago I participated in the regatta Lignano(ITA)- Portoroz(SLO).There were 180 boats of all classes from maxi to 7.
I was alone on my boat as I like it that way.
I have little(8.7m) but fast boat and in light winds managed to get among top 10 boats which were much greater. How ever in very light winds the fleet was spread 15-20 nm wide as every body looking for better wind.I was the most southern boat as was expecting that sooner or later will start blowing better wind from that direction. The nearest boat was 2 nm far away.
Instead of stronger, wind disappeared completely everywhere. The boats stopped as far as I could take a look, heading in all direction.
We at the top were some way in the middle between Italy and Slovenia.
After two hours in no wind conditions I got fed-up and started my outboard motor with the sails on heading to Portoroz where I live. Not even five minutes later I sow a little darker area on the sea surface to the south.Stopped the motor and hoisted my 110 sqm genaker waiting for that wind to come to me and as it came I went at max speed, under those conditions, towards where I expected more wind to come. The rest of the fleet north of me saw me get the wind and all hoisted the spi or genaker waiting for my wind but too late they got it as I was already in front with always greater wind.I was 1st in Portoroz and second boat a maxi arrived 20 min. later.
I was 1st at the arrival line but did not cross it but went from wrong side of arrival buoy.
The organizer from Italy started shouting to me that I did not cross the line but I continued strait on for 50 mts where is my mooring buoy.Get hold of it moored my boat lowered the sails and went on pier to explain to organizers that I was on motor for 5 minutes and therefor DSQ.
In the evening at the premiations the president of organizing club from Aprilia Maritima(ITA) came to me and told me that rarely anybody could be so honest as I was.He also said that he asked the other top boats if they have seen me starting my engine. Some said they were too far to see me and the closest to me said they only sow me with genaker hanging down and among the crew they laughed abt it and did not care any more abt that small boat.
Now you judge what kind of man I am
btw the above story could be verified at C.V.Aprilia Maritima (Lignano Sabbia D'oro)

With such a tight race as this one, where first 30-40 boats were in 0.2 nm it is obviously not permissible to validate this race, with the problems we encountered prior to arrival.
Many of
those who jumped in front on leaderboard would probably not agree.
This race should be annulled and raced once more.
