It is with deep sorrow that Sailonline announces the recent death in Adelaide, S Australia, of Aaron Gage on 29 June. Known to us all as AGage, Aaron will be sadly missed.

As a SOL Admin, Aaron was inexhaustibly energetic and always thinking of the next enhancement or modification for SOL and as a SOLer Aaron always made time to explain things clearly and simply for the rest of us. The forums and our memories are full of the advice he offered.

As a memorial to Aaron, SOL is running his Tour Down Under race, while the current Beta client will be a lasting legacy.

Message from Aaron's Family

Re: Aaron Gage from his family.

Knowing Aaron's absolute passion for SOL, it was with inconsulable grief that I came to notify you of his sudden death. It was a shock to find his beautiful face and the words you had already written. I went to the forum thread wondering what it was. How my tears fell as I began to read such beautiful words about my darling son. It did not take long for my grief to turn into pride and joy as I realized just how many people his life had touched.

Thankyou to each and every one who took the time to express your gratitude to Aaron for his passion, generosity, skills and devotion to SOL and to you personally.

You will not forget him; we, his family and friends, will always remember the words you have written.

You have truly soothed our breaking hearts.

Mum Katrina, Daughter Indigo and Brother Heath.

My deepest sympathy and condolences, but Aaron has left a great legacy in SOL. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
My eyes are full of tears and for long time I did not cry.It is to big strike for me and I am so sad.

Rest in peace my dear friend

I liked this man even if I never met him. From the conversations in the chat you decide whether you like the person or not and I did like him.

He has made incredible improvements in this virtual sailing site.

I remember him many times leading the race and than foaling asleep and destroy everything. The other time he was in the lead and had to take his young daughter to the doctor and obviously lost the top position.

He was so happy once when he won the race and all the favorites were in the race.
He was very good virtual sailor.

When he started winning many races I asked him, where did he comes from, other virtual sailing site.He said he is only here on SOL for several years and before he was mediocre sailor but learned from the best on this site.

Several times recently I asked myself, where is A.Gage, but than thought he has probably a lot of work with his real boat.

I miss you A.Gage

My sincere condolences to his family

Damir

This can't be true :( :( :(

Vuelta de la Isla Saltes Sprint 2025

Welcome to Spain for our first sprint of Q4. This is a traditional 20 NM local race around Huelva in SW Spain. Chances are a quick circumnavigation will involve some upwind work weaving your way round the mud flats of the upper reaches of the Huelva delta in our Fox 9.50. Fair winds!

Camel or Balloon - Khartoum to N'Djamena

As there is a lull in the calendar, your PRO has decided to risk an experiment – a balloon race over land, using a workaround to eliminate the recognition of water/land transitions. If it fails, the server may crash, and we abandon PDQ, hopefully after leg 7 of the ABS race to Suez has been decided, and before the start of the 1st OCC of Q4. Camel or Balloon – c 1000 nm from a field on the north bank of the Blue Nile at Khartoum to a field on the north bank of the Chari River at N'Djamena!

Africa by Sea 2025 - Mogadishu to Suez

Nearly there; only 2500nm to go, round the Horn and up the Red Sea to Suez into what will more than likely be more headwinds for this sixth leg of our African circumnavigation, to be followed in September by a final sneaky dash up the canal back to where we started all those months ago. We’ll be sailing a not entirely appropriate-for-upwind-work 60ft Trimaran!
