Board » Sailonline Yacht Club » CARIB RUM RUN 2012 - PIRATE NAMES

Page: 1 2 3 4 5 Next

SOL will soon be opening this year's Carib Rum Run and, again, SYC Members will be invited to change their boatnames to something a little more piratical!

The boatname change, applicable only to this race, will be made after you register for the race and does not affect how you log in to SOL!

For information here is last year's list

You don't have to use a name previously used but if you want to do so, then get your preference in quick!!

Name changes will be on a first-come first-served basis here in this thread so start posting your requests now and double-check that no-one else has grabbed the name you want!

All changes will be made as soon as they are noted and after you have registered for the race (once it opens!).

My name is Gödeke Michels
I was beheaded († 1402 in Hamburg)

Poco
I will take the name Curro Caminez, famous "bandolero" very fast :))
I will take on the name ChingShih.

How will that affect other races going on, I thought the boat name is tied to the userID?

Cheers!

In honour of all female sailors, be they pirates or not...!!

Just call me.....Captain Thunderbolt......The most successful Australian bushranger. Known as the "Gentleman Bushranger", he was shot dead in northern New South Wales in 1870. His territory included southern Queensland where I was born.

“We may have arrived on different ships, but we are all in the same boat now!” Martin Luther King Jr.
'Sir Francis Drunkealot' will do fine for me... He was a pirate after all... but went under 'privateer'... with the crown's protection. Much like the CIA today :-D
I like to talk a lot... sometimes I even make sense, mostly not...

RC, I noticed that everybody is using a name separated by a space. I specified different because I thought it had to be a single stream. Any way we can change that to the proper way then? Ching Shih

Thanks,

Laozi - the names will be strung together (as I have them listed in the first post) OR parts separated by a "_" ... there can't be a space.

And, to put your mind at ease, the username doesn't change, just the boatname, so as it is the username that has the SYC Membership, then there is no problem with rankings.

Its a bit of fun we have done before :-D

P.S. do be careful what links you post on SOL - we do have SOLers who are quite young :-)

SSANZ Race Delta 2021

Welcome back to the Hauraki Gulf and a course that will be familiar to you as it formed the third and final race of this year's SSANZ Triple Series that was unfortunately only raced on the virtual waters as pandemic restrictions in NZ kept racers ashore in reality. With a prudent and careful government, once again, restrictions mean the real racers cannot get back on the water for this Race Delta but, luckily for us, we may well see several of them joining us here to test their navigation skills in our Sun Fast 3300s around this approx. 45nm course.

Gulf Run 2021
It is 550nm on a course of 175 true from Dingle to Vigo, and from Pensacola to Yucatan as well, across the Gulf Stream and The Gulf respectively. It's warmer down in The Gulf, so we return to its azure waters for a re-run in J-130s of a course designed by RainbowChaser back in 2012, but only first run in 2018. Bring your deck chairs and the barrier cream.

Isla del Sol Re-Run 2021
Scanning the globe for special sprint locations, our intrepid course designer Renegade came across Isla del Sol in the middle of the world's highest navigable body of water, Lake Titicaca. We tried to race around it last month, but at 3812m above sea level, comms to our boats broke down for a little while, and our SRC decided to abandon the race, so we are running it again: 26nm RTI in "how-did-we-get-them-here?" Virtual PIC Coastal Classic Yacht Race 2021

Welcome! Kia Ora! to Auckland, New Zealand, and Sailonline's annual multihull race against the NZ Multihull Yacht Club competitors over 118nm from Auckland to Russell. Sadly, COVID19 restrictions mean the real race will not be running, but we welcome real racers to our virtual event where we are racing our 60ft trimarans in this testing event in the endlessly varying conditions off the east coast of North island. As is tradition, a hearty breakfast of bacon butties and rum will welcome yachties on their arrival.
