Sure, I know that. Just an idea, and as I said - a bit of a stretch. I'll just back off and try to get on track in the race instead. Was in the green for five hours... :-)

...another idea that goes the other way would be to let users SMS a course change if we hit the green. The SMS cost could be ≈2-3 SEK of which Sailport would get 1-2 kr income per manouver... a bit of a stretch maybe - but things like that could extend to revenue streams for Sailport that goes back into developing the game further. Extremely important to keep the players equal, though, so handle with care...

I am well aware that there are costs involved, but a great way of getting more people to ultimately pay for the game (ie being SYC members) would be to provide more value for the money (other than this great game itself, obviously). If game reminders is on the hotlist for the participants it would be a great feature to develop to get more than the ≈500 SYC members we are today?

I'm also pretty sure Sailport could negotiate a better deal than 1 SEK per SMS - perhaps by letting an operator in on the banners. It can be done.

    Just my 2 cents...

A great thing would be to have SMS reminders sent out. A good way to do it would be to have SYC members get SMS reminders while mail reminders can go to all.

This is the way it's done in Hattrick and it works like charm there.

    Thanks for a great game!

Melbourne to Osaka Prelude 2024

Welcome once again to what these days is Sailonline’s almost annual virtual Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race. In real life, this double-handed 5500 nm race between these two sister cities, one deep in the southern hemisphere, the other high in the northern hemisphere, is run every four to five years, and is planned to be held again in 2025, so this race is a Prelude in partnership with the Melbourne Osaka Cup 2025 organising committee collaborating with the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV), and the Sandringham (SYC) and Osaka Hokko (OHYC) yacht clubs. On this occasion, we’ll be racing the well-known First 40, a popular size of boat for a long-distance double-handed race. With the doldrums unavoidably lying across the track, you can expect to be at virtual sea for at least a month!
