- Anyone fancy making an AC45 polar?

Live data here here
The main problem is that the wind is reported from the mark boats so you would have to merge the files

I basically opted out of one weather pattern in the middle of the night and left it on DC and when I woke I was on TWA 33 or something and lost about an hour on klytharn. Also my roundings were on DC and easily lost an hour there.

Thanks Jeroen. you don't appear to have me (JuJu) listed as the winner of the 40.7's but I would appear to be about 50th using the spreadsheet. That would be OK as a result for me, I would normally expect to be i the 20-40 range.
You also don't appear to have Schakel, who would have won on handicap I think

Is anyone working out the handicap results? As I am winning the 40.7, I might have a chance....

Correct Jack, I finally managed to work out how to get the full track there and deleted the old ones

we Simon and I enjoyed our part in the races. you can see some pictures here.
and the track here.
I hope you did not mind us going into cruising mode -- the real wind was too light when we left the Isle of Wight behind, so we motored. We also thought we had a weather window and rushed to get out of L'aber Wrac'h (including shooing a douanier away) on the right tide for Chanel du Four to try to get in a weather window that closed on us.
My SPOT tracker is available for anyone else to borrow who wants to do a similar real life race (in Europe).

Having seen Belem come past us outside Brest last week, I think that a generic AIS tracker would probably work if the route goes through the areas covered by Marine Traffic- it would also cover multiple targets
All the Tall ships would have AIS I think as you need it over 300 tons.
You probably don't need STI's approval as the data is publicly available although it would be polite and a good tie-in

edited to re-jig the AIS link

I (JuJu) have proposed this race so that SOLers can race against us as we sail my friend Simon Jonson's Dufour 40 from Chichester Harbour to Corunna, breaking at L'aber Wrach in Brittany.
Pictures of Zeno here
We will be using my Spot tracker hopefully to put Zeno's position on the SOL race
Tracker
there are only 2 of us, so we will probably sail fairly cautiously (e.g. reef down a bit at night). We'd love to hear SOLers strategies for us before we go, we have a thuraya satphone on board but it only does voice/text messages.
