Hi, SOLers,
I want to propose you a race around the small island I live, work and sail: Formentera.
Herewith I upload a pdf with the general concepts of the event.
I do hope SOLers accept to enjoy, virtually at least, our beautiful waters.
Please, ask me whatever you want to know about the project or the island itself.
Thank you for your interest.
Blow good winds for SOLers

La regata me parece muy entretenida, Anchoilla. Espero que la Administración de SOL acepte tu propuesta.
si the magnificent journey very good proposal, I hope you like the administrators as me.
would be the only race that begins and ends in Spain so far this year, if I like a lot

el recorrido magnifico la propuesta muy buena , espero que a los administradores les guste como a mi.
seria la unica regata que empieza y termina en españa en lo que va de año , si me gusta y mucho
Hola Anchoilla - that really has to be one of the best ever race proposals I have had the honour to view! It is just brilliant... Gracias for all your work and preparation.

Just one small thing - please would you make the waypoints in Decimal Degrees to save me having to do that (to set them up in SOL they need to be Decimal Degrees and not Degrees Minutes Seconds).

:-D BRAVO!
Thanks for your kind words, RC.
For sure I translate the waypoints to Decimal Degrees.
Thanks elbetico, thanks Claudio.

I have translated the waypoints to Decimal Degrees and made some changes. I do hope you'll like this version.
Thanks.

Still as fabulous as when I first read it. It is such a pleasure to receive a quality race proposal :-)

We have a race starting this evening and I am setting up another for the weekend at the moment so I will set this up for preview over the next few days so we can make sure it looks good in SOL and then we can pick a date, based on the SOL Racing Year when it will be good to run. Do you have specific dates in mind for it?
Thank you again, RC.
I think a good date could be June 22th, starting at 8.00 UTC. It is week end and the race could take about 24h long.
But the date SOL team choose sure will be right.
I have prepared a .kmz document in Google Earth, following the SOL manual.
Thank you for your interest

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
