Board » Technical Support » QtVlm router and Brainaid's NMEA proxy

Page: Previous 1 2

Has anybody found a Nav system monitoring program, similar to NavMonPC that will run-on Mac? I am looking for a way to connect brainaids NMEA proxy to qtVlm… Cheers
Ok, I think I might be able to use OpenCPN... But can't try it yet as I can't get brainaid's NMEA proxy to run.

When using Safari, I click on the link, and it zips in to the download icon in the top right corner, and then disappears, nothing happens, no NMEA proxy runs, and I can't tell if Java runs or not.

When using Chrome, it sends me to the oracle homepage to download java, which I have done, and have the latest version. Again, I don't know how to check that it is running but assume that it is.

I'll keep looking to see what I can find...
Maybe this has something to do with mac problems running java 7.
Apple blocks java7 in OSx
Thanks Cappy… I think it's all ok now, Java has been upgraded and the new version is supported by Apple… I still can't get it to run though, still trying to find options… Anyone else managed to get Brainaids NMEA proxy to run on a Mac?
I too am having the same problem - java does not seem to start from the link on brainaids site....any guidance would be most welcome.

My plan is to use Qtvlm as the router with a feed from brain aid nmea proxy....is this the way to do it for a MAC?
Hi Boozeroo,

Where I'm at so far, is that to get the Brainaid NMEA Proxy running I had to install Firefox, it would not run off Safari for some reason. I'm now trying to get MultiCom working, which for some reason is not picking up the output from Brainaids NMEA proxy (get a message saying that it is "Waiting for Server" continuously, when the NMEA proxy is running).

In QtVlm, under Boat -> Boat Settings, select Serial Mode, name it the same name as you setup when setting up MultiCom (see link below to another thread on how to do this) and this should be able to import the NMEA data in to QtVlm.

how to connect to brainaid

If you are able to get MultiCom to work better than I have so far, you should be able to get this all working.

Boozer - I had the same problem and both Stoerte and I could not get round it... until I tried with Chrome instead of IE and it d/l 1st time :S
Is anybody else having a problem yesterday/today with NavMonPc's GPS clock? It seems stuck at 20/09/14 14:46:36.
Reinstallation of version 1.18 from NavMonPc web site does not resolve the freeze and I am left with a "C:\ProgFilex86\NavMonPc\SerialToolsXPRunTime.exe with Code 740 The requested operation requires elevation."
Any ideas?

Restart of computer restarted GPS clock and/or reconnected so now routing again.

Hi, everyone!

I need assistance to co-ordinate brainaid's proxy with NavMonPc on a Win 8 computer. Presently, when I click on the proxy button, the result from java.com is:

"Sorry! We couldn't find the document requested.

The file that you requested could not be found on this server. If you provided the URL, please check to ensure that it is correct."

Thanks for your attention!

Lago Viedma Ice Race 2025

Less than one third of the land mass of the planet is to be found in the southern hemisphere, and most of that in tropical to temperate latitudes or in Antarctica, so it is difficult to find good natural ice to race DNs anywhere in August! However, if you take an internal flight from Buenos Aires to Aeropuerto Internacional Comandante Armando Tola de El Calafate by the shores of Lago Argentino, it’s only a 100km taxi ride to Lago Viedma, where we have set out a few beacons on the ice for you for a quick 80nm blast around the four corners of the lake, and as it’s so remote here, no need to worry about breaking the solitude of monks or suffering PL!

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Baia de l'Oiseau to Carnarvon

How ever shall I return to report with clarity to my Great Sultan – asked Sinbad. It needs be told this island and all its fables shall be expunged from the annals of every thousand and one night. The wind howls – and sun be none (it’s Winter, Sin’bro, ed.) – and all days from the west, but let’s launch anyway and see if we can work our SOL Balloon north as the days pass aiming for Asthralaya, where The Mahabharata tells the ancients once tested mighty weapons, about a quarter and a million qasbah away (2500nm, ed.), perhaps one month.
