Ciao Cappy ;) and ALL solers ;)

In my role of Coordinator , I want to answer your well placed point , regarding the tech irregularity occurred on Feb 22nd .

Firstly rest assured that the matter has been tackled immediatly , as soon as first event took place . In actual facts some 16 boats in total have been affected by the event . The SOL Tech engine room and SOL OPS started discussions immediatly , and investigation plans for implementation of corrective actions are in place since about half day through on the 22nd .

I am not the right person to talk about it , but preliminary response is that being the race area spanning beyond the midnight line , when some boats , who eventually lost interest in the race, or lost contact with the boat, and sailed eastbound towards the boundry , actually hit the eastern boundry line , were teleported to the west of the race area , exactly at same latitude , with a 270 deg heading jump .

This software irregularity event would clash with the awareness that since a few years we are able to sail in the pacific , crossing the midnight line , thanks to the efforts of Brainaid , who fixed the previuos problem we had .

We now learn , thanks to 16 solers who dared to go where no man had gone before , that hitting the boundry beyond the midnight line strikes an irregular reaction by the server ;)))))))) ( Klingon server ...not liking that we sail into the neutral zone ?????? ) ....

a part from kidding , I wanted to reassure you that the issue is looked at since the first few minutes , as it happened .....and hopefully will be fixed quite soon ......well ...for the time being we just need not to fly to the neutral zone....;) ;) ;)

And , lastly , we are about to issue very special Award Certificates to those 16 who dared to go where no man had gone before , for the " most gigantic jump performance ever seen in SOL " !!! ;)

ciao ciao

Piero

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Robinson Crusoe to Galapagos

Welcome to our first race of a new series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones, this first race taking you north from south of the Tropic of Capricorn to the Equator-straddling Galapagos, home of magical iguanas and other exotic fauna (but no mythical kings, Dory) Departing from the island where in 1704 adventurer Alexander Selkirk inspired Daniel Defoe to write the best-seller "The Life and Adventures of Robinson Crusoe", by debarking off the unsound "HMS Cinque Ports", four months before she foundered off the coast of present-day Colombia, we will sail the 2200nm in our decidedly sounder and faster than the " Cinque Ports",

Natuna Sea Race 2026

At 4.0N 108.2E lies the island of Natuna Besar, Great Natuna, surrounded by at least 154 islands, of which 127 uninhabited, Indonesia’s Natuna Regency, and all around this archipelago, the Natuna Sea, bordered by Borneo to the east, the Java Sea to the south, and the Malay peninsula to the west, and extending north to cross a disputed international border with China into the South China Sea. And it’s a border that matters, there’s gas here! But why worry, let’s race – 2050nm in our goo’ol’ Open 60s in between the production platforms, prowling destroyers and submarines.
