Would it be possible to get the Lake Geneva race opened a bit earlier. It would be interesting to get to know the new boat well in advance of the race;)
My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I'm right.
I see no need to open this race in its proposed format any earlier than scheduled.
When is it scheduled to be opened for practice racing?

I am writing here on behalf of the entire SOL Management Team . Here for you and all those who are eager to "fly" on the water with the new AC72 polar is the answer :

Sol Marketing , with concurrence of the entire MT felt not appropriate to race on Lake Geneva at this particular time of the year . During last very few days a decision has been made : The AC72 polar test will indeed be raced , but it will be in the waters of Lisbon , and it will be TIMED race .

The last bit is imo excellent news , as it will allow multiple runs and testing of the polar in different TWS and TWA .

The race , that will NOT , repeat NOT be part of the Timed Races Championship , will most probably appear in home page sometimes tomorrow , and will start on the 27th at 1500Z . As now customary for Timed races it will remain open for about one week .

Hope this responds to your query and clarifies the situation . My personal apologies for this chamge not to have been displayed in Calendar earlier on.

Piero, thanks for you and the whole management team for the info. I don't see the change of venue or race format a big issue, it's just as cool to get to race on the polar in Lisboa in a timed race;)
My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I'm right.
I've tried today the AC72 on he Lisboa race. Crazy polar, way too fast boat for sol. I think it would be nicer a fleet race to start with this mean machine. Foiling makes the boat really really strange.

nacrr
Ciao !

on one side I have same feelings as you have ....
on the other side the advantage of being TIMED is that of being able to test the polar in different conditions and for as long as one week.

I'd love to see a transat run with this missile in perhaps less than 2 days !! ;)

the next mean of transportation faster than this would be a Boeing 767-300 ER ! ;)

Viva Piero and nacrr,

and

all SOLers.

Following some wishes I’m preparing a new race - an Ocean one, to be more precise - using this boat.

I’ll prefer to classify her more like a symmetrical wing implanted in two foiling bananas, with just one purpose: the need for speed!

Let’s find out her first in Lisboa!

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
