Hi all. Can someone please explain from where the weather data is provided in SoL? I can see it's Weathertech, but my Swedish isn't all it could be. :-)

Is it GFS, taken straight from a forecast, or is it manipulated/assessed in any other way?

My understanding is that the weather comes directly from NOAA.

Some manipulation is done when a new wx is loaded to the game, namely the firs hour is interpolated from the "old" wx to the "new" wx so there is no discontinuity.

Maybe someone who knows better the stuff under the hood can explain this better.
My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I'm right.

I can't say I know everything about it either, but I can confirm that NOAA's GFS is used for all races (in the past some different (more detailed) models were used for specific regions).

Sol cuts out the piece that is needed for the race, and when it is a large area it removes a large part of the datapoints, i.e. instead of 0.5⁰ resolution, sol can use 1⁰ or even 2⁰ resolution, so that the wx files keep manageable for everyone.

I don't know much about the smoothing from one Wx to the next, but since I've never seen weird jumps in TWS/TWD, there must be some smoothing.
