Board » Technical Support » qTVLM new 5.3.6 version

Page: 1 2 3 Next

Just downloaded the new qT version and installed it.
Only worked immediately after the installation.
Now, it keeps crashing every time I try to start the program (Windows 7 Ultimate, X64, yes, with all the updates).
Rolled back to the 5.3.5 patch 1 version.
Sail Fair.
You are the only one reporting that.. Did you install it in a clean folder and if yes what setting did you changed after the installation?
No it wasn't a clean folder, alias, as all the previously installed qT versions went all for the same folder (“C:\Program Files\qtVlm”) without any problem.
I didn’t change any of the previous version (3.5.1 patch 1) settings.
I’ve just inserted a new setting for the Performance recovery time (it’s a new option in the 3.5.6).
Anyhow, I’ve made a clean install to a new folder (“C:\Program Files\qtVlm1”), losing all my previous qT configs, routes made, barriers and waypoints, where you, as you well know, spend a lot of time implementing. It’s working now.

Thank you Philipe.
Sail Fair.
You can always recover your pois, routes barriers and such by copying poiReal.dat and boatAccReal.dat from one folder to another.

Did you set again the new parameter for tack/gybes penalty and is it ok?
Maybe we should tell QtVlm users where to download it!!!

You found a problem indeed. I am generating a patch
Philipe,

The problem is precisely in the “poiReal.dat” file as the new version crashes when I load the one used in the 3.5.1 patch 1 version.
So, exporting from the old version to the new one, via the “qtVlmExport.zip” file, doesn’t work and you lose a lot of the previously made work, as mentioned before.
This problem, as also already suggested, will be solved the day we can generate (exportable/importable/compatible between successive versions) separate files for routes, barriers and waypoints.
The new qT config for the Performance recovery I still have to test it but, it will be difficult to match or get closer to the “SOL formula”, which in my opinion is a mess.

Again, thank you Philipe.
Sail Fair.
This is due to a bug linked to this new parameter and a last minute modification I did, my bad.

A patch will be posted in less than one hour and you will be able to recover your routes, poi, barriers etc.
All qT users will appreciate, Philipe.
Sail Fair.
Patch 1 ready. Can you confirm all is ok this time?

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
