I logged in as guest to "RTWR 2016 - Leg 2 - Uruguay to New Zealand".

Useless.... i tried to set course 270... after 1 second speed went from 13 knots to zero.

Great welcome for newcomers you give.. not really quite an incentive to create an account!

guests should be welcomed... not just tolerated!!!!
The purpose of the guest account is to permit someone who is undecided about learning sailing navigation on Sailonline and racing here to be able to view an open race, inspect the user interface/functionality and even read in-race chat - all of which will give a sense of what is involved in racing on this platform.

Sailing on Sailonline is completely free, so you can easily register a boatname/username and then start testing the UI/functionality for yourself.

I hope you now decide to do just that :-)

NOTE: While the guest boat may log in at any time while a race is open on the Homepage, during pre-race practice, it is also possible to log in as the sol boat (username and password are both the word sol ) and then you can try out the steering and other functions, apart from chat.

Thank you rainbowchaser. As guest still not much to see; to do.. But now as sol I have something to play with. This sol-account does everything you promised with your guest-account.. if you did that special for me?? ty ty ty for the service..
glenan - I can't take credit for doing that - the sol boat has always been available for testing during pre-race, obviously it is available for everyone to use if they wish, so you can only really use it for brief practising or polar testing. For those who are managing their rankings sometimes a quick test with the sol boat can help them decide whether or not to register their own boat in the race in question.

Happy SOL-ing!

Tall Ships Races 2025 - Le Havre to Dunkirk

Welcome to the first of four virtual Tall Ships Races in European waters which are concurrently being organized in-real-life by Sail Training International . The course for this first race is between the French ports of Le Havre and Dunkirk; circa 125nm in Sailonline’s magnificent 90m Barque.
NOTE: Starts and Finishes in tall ships racing are always offshore to avoid conflict with shipping and shipping lanes; online and real-life may not match exactly.

Red Eye - Key Lime Pie-gatta 2025

Opposite the Bahamas at the tip of the Florida peninsula, we find the Florida Keys, a honky-tonk arpeggio of islands, where another SOL classic, the Key Lime Pie-gatta, so-called after the famous local condensed-milk-based tart speciality, awaits to be navigated once again. We’ll race its “Red Eye” 180nm in very-American Santa Cruz 52s, ignoring such artefacts as bridges, causeways and piers joining the keys one to the other and to the mainland!

Sail Around Turkey 2025

Welcome to the 11th running of one of Sailonline's most iconic races, where our fleet races the length of the Turkish coastline from Hopa (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Black Sea coast) to Iskenderun (the easternmost harbour on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast). It’s a 1,372nm race and aboard our classic, 1st decade of the 21st Century, version 2 IMOCA 60, you should be able to get around the course in less than a week. That is if, of course, once you get out of the Black Sea you don’t stop to enjoy the sights or a BBQ or two in the Golden Horn, or on the Marble Islands, now land-locked Troy or Gallipoli or any of the myriad Aegean islands, that you shall have to carefully navigate past.
