AHOY THERE YE BESPAWLIN’ GROG-SNARFIN’ MONGRELS!!!

On 13 September at 1000utc Sailonline will be racing to bring barrels of rum from Carib distilleries to Mexico and as has become tradition, all SYC Members are invited to adopt a pirate name for this race only.

This is an annual affair, run in close proximity to International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept 19).

If you are a paid-up SYC Member you may change your usual Sailonline boatname just within this one race to one influenced by all things piratical! Names are agreed on a first-come, first-served basis BUT all must be suitable and "fit to print", Sailonline is a family-friendly site so we reserve the right to disallow names we consider inappropriate.

All requests for such changes will only be actioned if posted in this thread - hollering in chat is fun, but only by posting here can you guarantee your pirate name!

PLEASE DO CHECK THE LIST BELOW below before submitting a request so that you don't ask for a name already taken by someone else before you!

Please note that the change of boatname for this one race will not affect either your usual login credentials (username and password) or your SYC rankings.

Once the race opens, I will be changing the boatnames as efficiently as possible!

NOTE: you may join SYC and request a change of name for the race at any time up to and during the Carib Rum Run until race close!

I am going to retain the well respected name "Rod". I am, after all, the most fearsome, the most feared, the deadliest pirate of them all------and on top of that, I speak to the Queen in the Queen's English, as grammatically correct and as well typed as I can make it.....
If it breaks, it's not strong enough--if it doesn't, it's too heavy.
LOL Rod :-)

I shall resume my moniker of GetAPatch as in previous renditions of this quite essential expedition when Rum will be needed in weather ravaged areas of the Spanish Main.
"Go pose in front o' the mirror some more ye duck-knee'd dung munchin' crap sack!"

arr GetAPatch ye shall be

Me name will be Captain Rat, and has always been, and don't you try to mess up with me.
;-)

ye be heard, ye grog-swillin barnacle

Not a request. Slimey Gobspittle.
Spell it right frilly drawers or I’ll tie your guts for gaskets with a slippery hitch.
Slimey, master pirate of the Southern Seas. Not a sun tanned pretender or a namby-pamby, pond-paddling, northern hemisphere would-be, who shakes at the sight of a proper ocean.

Hawk - spit - fart – aaaaaaaah.

yer monicker be set, ye impertinent clay-brained pignut

Haugesund to Reykjavik 2025

In late April 2016 Draken Harald Hårfagre, the worlds largest viking ship built in modern times, left her home port in Haugesund, Norway and sailed off for a challenging voyage across the North Atlantic Ocean.
The aim was to explore and relive one of the most mythological sea voyages – the first transatlantic crossing, and the Viking discovery of the New World, more than a thousand years ago. History tells us about the Viking explorer, Leif Eriksson, who discovered America over 500 years before Christopher Columbus. The expedition was all about exploring the world, just like the Vikings did.
Sailonline is racing the 1000 nm first leg, from Haugesund, Norway, to Reykjavik, Iceland in our Farr 400. Let us sail in the wake of history on this epic adventure!

It’s 1900nm and we’ll be glad to be sailing our comfortable and sturdy Xp-55, as we will certainly experience more headwinds!
