Can't get a connection when opening the client software. No updates on boats, charts anything.
When I use the web client no comands seems to get through to my boat (Bavaria39)
What's wrong / solution
Hi there, the only version that is working is the web version the installed client doesn't work anymore.

Problems with the web client are rare but could be caused by a proxy server in your connection. You might want to try a different browser and clear the cache of the browser.

Hope this extra info helps you.

bavaria,

1) Make sure you don't have the delay checkbox ticked

2) Zoom in and make sure you have not run aground.
Thank you guys. Problem solved.
It's my first race and I didn't see the island I was trying to sail through, It's a bit different sailing in a virtual world compared with the real one. BUT GREAT FUN.

Thanks again
I an new user and I have the same problem and your advice above does not help. I can stear the boat from the standard interface but not from the recommended client. I tried from two different computers and same issue. What are the features that i dont get when not using the client. Does it make sence to compete in the race using standard interface?

There is only ONE client, and that is the web based one - the desktop client (which you earlier could download) is not usable anymore. What are your specific problems with the web based client?
Kalle, I think you should remove the link to the 'cheat document', or at least indicate that it is obsolete. I think it may be the cause for the confusion.

Philip
The recommended use of desktop client caused confusion. I will not try to use that SW anymore. I hope that all references to that SW will be removed from Saionline.org
I see your point. The line "The best way to steer a boat is by the use of the client-software that can be downloaded here." on the manual page should be removed as well.

Philip
Im finishing a new manual as we speak.

This will replace the old one with the, now faulty reference.
This will remove the confusion we had about this, and will provide all the extra information on how to use the web interfce!

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
