    Board » In memoriam
These news bring me so much sadness. We have lost a friend, and the world has lost a bright mind that had so much more to give. Aaron was one of those people that you knew burned bright from the first time you talked to him. Always great, always striving to learn, always passionate.

My thoughts go to his family in these hard times. Aaron, you will live on in our memories. Rest in peace.

I removed the contents of the Schakel's list since it is only work in progress and does not represent a true/complete outline of the future races. Sorry :)
  • Re: New issue, this time on my iMac
    Board » Technical Support
Not sure about the cursor thing - sounds like a flash bug. Apple is not going to kill flash - they're just not going to ship it by default with Safari.

You could also try Chrome - it ships with its own flash version embedded!

How long do you wait before reloading - the client SHOULD show the new command result within 30 seconds (and most likely < 15 seconds). Are you behind some caching web proxy?
  • Re: Preview vs Post

Well, the forum software basically sucks, that's the closest answer I can give ;) I've started a slow process of looking at alternatives but integrating them into the website is a good chunk of work...
  • Re: The "two boat rule".
    Board » Sailonline Yacht Club
The one boat per race per user rule is mainly for two reasons:

    1) To avoid situations where people cover multiple strategies

    2) To avoid users taking up "more than their share" of server resources (the number of boats that can be handled by the system without server upgrades is finite.

So in general, no, it's not allowed to have multiple boats at any time, much because 2) will always be an issue.

Hmm, yes, knowing that a lot of the SOL battles are taking place in office environments, maybe a more discrete sound should be used?
  • Re: "Rounding Marks"
    Board » General Discussion
The result of todays excitement is a server bug. Normally the server "un-registers" the rounding if you go back outside the mark. We are currently investigating this bug and will also most likely correct affected boats.
  • Re: let's return to one colour wind arrows
    Board » Technical Support
Please DO NOT do that, it's a very old version, among other thing containing a nasty bug caused A LOT of data to be downloaded unnecessarily.

Halifax to Hooper Bay 2024

And now it’s Autumn in the Arctic, the sun is permanently below the horizon, but during the day, from c 0900 to c 1700 local time, there is some twilight – nautical twilight, not to be confused with civil twilight which is brighter. Having receded all summer, ice is starting to return to the numerous straits and bays of Canada’s North West Passage. High time then to set off on our last leg of the High Latitudes Series from Halifax in Nova Scotia to Alaska’s Hooper Bay. It’s 3850nm and we need to hurry, so we’ll take the Pelagic 77!
