Board » Sailonline Yacht Club » 2024 RANKINGS BY NATION

As anticipated one year ago, the Rankings by nation need re-thinking.

Already in 2022 one Nation (USA) thanks to a combination of very high participating numbers … AND … a very high level of collective skills, left no space for any kind of competition for top spot to any other Team in the SOL arena as far as the TEAM formula was concerned.

In 2023 this situation has only deteriorated. There had been no story for the TEAM rankings.

SO :

The Rankings by Nation (TEAM) scheme will be discontinued in 2024.
The Rankings by Nation (INDIVIDUAL) will continue without changes for the time being.

Should in future a formula to rectify imbalances be found and more than anything else, should be possible to automate it in the server, the scheme might be resurrected.

The Rankings by Nation thread remains here in the SYC partition of the Forum because it is traditionally where SOLers look for it.

Attached underneath you find 2 DOCUMENTS:

One illustrates the revised mechanicals of the rankings scheme; the other one illustrates the mechanicals that will lead to reward the individual SOLers.

At the end of each calendar month an up to date situation will be posted here for everyone to look at and plan improvements !

Please feel free to comment or ask for any clarification writing to coord@sailonline.org

I will publish here for everyone information the most important comments and clarification requests.

Happy 2024 SOLing !!

AWKR 2024

The Australian Women's Keelboat Regatta celebrates and promotes women's sailing in Australia. Comprising a week of intense racing on Melbourne’s Port Phillip Bay, the event has grown to become Australia’s premier women’s regatta and one of the largest in the southern hemisphere, and over the past several years, Sailonline has been delighted to have been invited to offer all-comers (women and men) a virtual opportunity to race the Bay during AWKR week. This year, it’s an imaginary 80-miler in Sun Fast 3300s, which should prove a proper online challenge.

Welcome to Nuuk, capital of Greenland. It holds the title of warmest city in Greenland and is located at the end of the Nuup Kangerlua fjord on the east shore of the Labrador Sea. The fjord is clear of ice, daylight plentiful, perhaps a tiny chill in air. This is the final sprint of Q2 and we have a new course for you. It is time to race in Greenland.
