The Sailonline Management is pleased to announce

THE 2024 SOL CHAMPIONSHIP NORs
________________________________________

The four annual Championships will continue without change to format.

One special mention has to be made about the Sprint Championship:

In 2023 we have doubled the available sprint races in a single month (one valid for Championship and one not). This has furtherly diluted the participating numbers to each of the sprint races. The scheme in 2024 will be copy paste of that of 2023 , but it is anticipated that in 2025 we may discontinue Sprint Championships (not the amount of sprint racing; only the competitiveness of part of it).

The main change in 2024 will be represented by the discontinuing the delivery of material gold medal for each of the 48 Championship races winner.

This is due to continuosly increasing amount of bureaucracy connected with shipments outside the EU. Each single small medal preparation for shipment means more paperwork than what is the overall value of the item and postage.

We will therefore start a new system where each Championship race winner will receive a virtual gold medal on a certificate sent by email. To compensate a little for the loss of the physical medal, we will start delivering virtual medals to the whole podium for each Championship race.

Also : The winner of each Quarterly Championship (16 in total) will continue to receive the exclusive plaque (at least for 2024) but we will “add” virtual medals sent by email for the rest of the podium.

In a nutshell :

OCEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Annual Championship
12 races (one each month) - 2 discards
Quarterly Championships
the 3 races of each quarter - NO discards

TIMED CHAMPIONSHIP
Annual Championship
12 races (three each quarter) - 2 discards
Quarterly Championships
the 3 races of each quarter - NO discards

SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP
Annual Championship
12 races (three each quarter) - 2 discards
Quarterly Championships
the 3 races of each quarter - NO discards

ALL ROUND CHAMPIONSHIP
Annual Championship
12 races (one each month) - 2 discards
Quarterly Championships
the 3 races of each quarter - NO discards

SUPERSOLER 2024
This year again it will be the summa of 48 Championship races (12 OCCH + 12 TRCH + 12 SPRCH + 12 ARCH) and will allow 6 discards.

Happy Championships SOLing in 2024 !

Mad Max by Balloon 2026 - Across the Outback

Mad Max Rockatansky doesn’t get to go in a balloon in any of the Legends of the Wasteland, and the Wasteland is not necessarily the Outback of Australia, but Mel Gibson and film director George Miller indubitably are… of Australia, and ballooning as reconnaissance is a main feature of the Mad Max spin-off video game, so here goes: 1500nm in a balloon from somewhere on the edge of the Outback, Goondiwindi, to cross a finish line at Fitzroy Crossing, somewhere on the edge of the Outback!
