2009-05-09 00:35:49 - Email other boats
Is it possible to email other boats directly rather than use the open chat line?

I don't think it is possible at present but that would be a great feature if it could be implemented.

At the moment this is not possible, we are trying to get a community site up with such options.
There is also the privacy issue of email.
A lot of us are on facebook as well and there is a Sailonline group there too. Until we have a own system up this might be a good way to go.
I am a ex-admin of SOL who joins in from time to time.

Thanks for reply, I understand the privacy issues. I was curious that in our profiles it says our email addresses will be be shown to all users unless we leave the email address field blank. So at this time it is not possible to see other user's email addresses?

If I click on your name in the left-hand column, your user profile appears. There your e-mail address is shown.

Cheers,
Philip (aboard Schakel)

To clarify: In the user profile an email is only shown for users that have entered a "public email" in their profile.

OK thanks Philip and Kalle. So the email addresses will be visible if the person has been on the forum and chooses to be public but the address is not available via the SYC member ranking list.

Mad Max by Balloon 2026 - Across the Outback

Mad Max Rockatansky doesn’t get to go in a balloon in any of the Legends of the Wasteland, and the Wasteland is not necessarily the Outback of Australia, but Mel Gibson and film director George Miller indubitably are… of Australia, and ballooning as reconnaissance is a main feature of the Mad Max spin-off video game, so here goes: 1500nm in a balloon from somewhere on the edge of the Outback, Goondiwindi, to cross a finish line at Fitzroy Crossing, somewhere on the edge of the Outback!
