Board » Technical Support » weird lines in view screen

This is a problem that I started to notice in leg 5 and in leg 6. Now it has gotten much worse. In the two previous legs it usually showed up as an extension of the land in a wide green line across the screen. On occasion and now in this leg (especially away from land) It shows up as extensions of the course traces of my boat, the lead boat and any other boat selected in the boats tab.
As I zoom in and out the lines jump around and sometimes grow quite large. Zooming in and out definitely causes them to move around and change in width.
This is happening on two different machines, my Vista laptop and my XP desktop. In both FF3.10 and IE 8 on the Vista OS, and FF 3 and IE 7 on the XP OS.
I haven't heard anyone else mention this but it does seem to effect both of my computers, with different OS's and graphics hardware and programs. It is a bit annoying when I'm trying fine tune a course. Any Ideas??

Me too. It mainly happens on the higher magnifications.
Thanks guys for reporting this.

It is certainly more visable during this leg, we know that this bug is there but haven't had the time to work out and implement a fix for it.

We will try to resolve this one soon, Jeroen
I am a ex-admin of SOL who joins in from time to time.
Maybe is somehow related to fix for crossing dateline? It first appeared for me during the Leg from China to Rio.
Yes, all these graphic bugs were introduced when we implemented support for datum line crossing. The algorithms actually get a littly tricky when you have vector maps supporting seamsless rotation :) Both me and Jakob currently have a pretty high workload with both our day jobs and SOL and Sailplanner and other things in life - so even though we will fix this it might take a while.

Red Eye - Myth of Malham 2025

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Africa by Sea 2025 - Maputo to Mogadishu

The fifth leg of our exploration of Africa By Sea takes us north along the length of the Continent’s succulent sub-tropical and tropical Indian Ocean coast. Much fought over by traders and colonists both well-before and after a Portuguese expedition under the command of Vasco da Gama first sailed there from Europe back in the 16th century, it is yet to be properly explored as a yachting destination. With plenty of islands off- and inshore, small and very large, there is much to interrupt your 1900nm voyage and visit in your Swan 65, from Maputo to Mogadishu! Race #1858
